ek9 and vxr

If any of us had a turbo or supercharger on are 9s they would be eating scoobys for breckfast and god knows what else!

Er, my tweaked EK4 keeps up with scoobies, even the 320bhp PPP editions.

They are not fast cars, too much lag, long gears, heavy 4WD system and the associated transmission losses. In terms of power at the wheels, I think they probably only work out as about 180-190bhp per tonne.

They have been dispatched on track and at autotests, and while i'll never overtake one on the road, they tend to get in the way on the twisties. :nice:

not a bad looking car tbh just hate them gash wheels, to bad vauxhall have to turbo them to beat a honda, turbo ek9 vs VXR. VXR no chance.

But Honda choose not to use a turbo. Think of the torque the vxr has thanks to its turbo and how easy it is to get good performance gains out of a vxr

Why does every car like mini, rs turbo escort, corsa vxr for example need a turbo or supercharger and still isn't making the same break or just pipping a oldskool 9 againest all these new cars out! If any of us had a turbo or supercharger on are 9s they would be eating scoobys for breckfast and god knows what else! Just shows how amazing these cars are at the end of the day the japs centainly know how to build good imports plus the rest! It's a nice looking vxr but still prefer my 9 I guess u all know that was coming after what I just wrote lol

How come Honda are one of very few that dont supercharge/turbo their cars, where everyone else does? If you have forced induction you tend to get great torque and you can get a lot of power compared with an n/a, money wise

But scoobies and evos can do them speeds on really any surface. I doubt your civic would be able to keep up with a scooby or evo that had 'tweeks' :)

Ps. btw, i do love honda's!

When i used to own my EK9, had a little play with a guy i know's Corsa VXR, mine was quicker by a bit. Remember it can also be down to the driver.

Know a guy who owns a Astra VXR with 300 bhp. Absolutely gets owned by me in my RX7.

ive drove both standard vxr shokkingly bad turbo lag and whoever else has driven one will back me up

You really think they have bad turbo lag?! I have driven one a number off times and i can honestly say there was no turbo lag due to the fact that it had possibly the smallest and weakest turbo i had ever seen and driven! The power was instant but died off really quickly..signs of a tiny turbo! so i dunno why you think it has bad turbo lag..your probably putting the turbo lag down to the fact that you feel NO turbo cos its SO tiny lol.

BUT..and a BIG BUT :) The corsa VXR is definitely the best car i have ever driven part from DC2 and EK9 and (ford Puma)..PERIOD. Awesome awesome car. Just not quick..

Any engine will perform. Put a turbo on an ek9 yes it will fly, but then put an even bigger turbo on a VXR/scooby and will will also fly. From factory most turbo cars will run low boost on a safe map for everyday driving and useability. If our EK9s weren't so light they really wouldn't be a great performer due to their lack of torque. The light chassis really brings these vtecs alive.

Whilst turbocharged cars have great torque and can make heavier cars fast easily.

All depends how far you want to go.

Agree 100%!:nice:

I have always wanted to have a wee go with a corsa VXR tho! I was like that with the mini cooper S for a while til I smoked one a while back, really thot they were quicker!

Exactly Daniel son well said :)

I don't like these "i beat this car thread" even tho it does get everyone replying! lol

This is gonna turn into an N/A VS Turbo thread any minute!

Not much more to be said on the subject.

EK9's aren't all that fast.

All these road "kills" are a pile of bum, I had some fat Audi saloon pull past me like I was stood still and I was giving it the most welly possible whilst the 60 year old plus bloke was probably just applying a bit of throttle and didn't even notice me.

BUT! - Did my car sound like a rocket? Yes. Did it feel like it was going super duper fast? Yes. Was it fun to hit the limiter at crazy high revs? Yes.Did I still get raped by an OAP in an Audi? Yes. The EK9 is super fun, but not super fast.

I love the way you word things on this forum mate!:bow::bow::bow:

For me you have hit the nail on the head!

Dont get me wrong EK9's can be very quick cars, but so can any other car that you through money at!:secret:
Corners are were the the EK9 comes alive!:drive:

as danny said, awesome car indeed, the car he mentioned was mine and we both know a good when we drive it. I absolutely hands down would have another one purely because of the driving pleasure it gave me. Not the quickest car ive owned but easily the nicest.

Best post iv read in a while by championshite White, truer words never written haha

Was that fat audi saloon an S5 or S4? Or RS4/6? Because they are V8/s or supercharged V6's(new audi S4) which would all kick the **** outa a stock B16.

A stock EK9 is pretty fast for the road and fast enough to be quite competitive. With 200BHP and some weight reduction you have 200BHP per tonne which sure **** isnt shy. I know mine surprises me more often then not. You'll find alot of EK9's vary a fair bit in speed. Some engines are just better then others in these ive found. But your right, they are not super fast, but then what is? 800bhp cars? When does a car become super fast? Each to their own.

Yeh, the EK9 isn't slow either, but I hate it when people start saying "but what if the EK9 chassis was built from spider-webs and air, was spraying nitros with a twin-turbo, a supercharger, six-wheel drive and running on rocket fuel? It would win then!" because then there's no point in even comparing two cars because the EK9 isn't really an EK9 anymore.

I do hope it was a super-powered Audi that beat me and not a run-of-the-mill A4, I never saw the front of it, it was too fast :p

I'm happy with my stock EK9 at the moment, I can't see myself changing cars for a while, just building on making it even more fun to drive and actually using it instead of drooling on its bonnet before work.

That my friend i do agree with :nice:

Alot of pointless threads, but some are worth giving a genuine opinion.

You would **** on an A4 buddy, no problem. If it was that fast then i can guarantee it was a V8 brute. The look subtle but are packing a punch!

Ive been reading this post but not bothered to comment until now :

But Championship white your works where awesome , so nicely delivered :nice:

Josh dude, they weigh 1200KG not 1 and half tonnes. If they weighed that much they would be pretty slow.

Just looked this up, and really surpirsed to find your right!

I thought they were honesty heavier with all the luxuries...

Josh..

Sig material right there:lol: Rep'd for making me lol

True, however his EK4 won't have rinsed him of 10K plus! So fair play if he can in a 4, lol :nice:
