ek4 build up


scooby like! well funny enough my Mugen 4-1 replica frm ebay sounds like that too!! :angry: i did read once somewhere that its was due to un equal tubing... well glad to hve the Vibrant 4-2-1 on its way :nice:

can unequal tubing on manifold affect engine in any way? or simply loss of power... :confused:

like 'Boozer_Matt' mentioned DC2 black Recaros r nice option for u... my UKDM EP3 seats look fab on the EK however they do sit a bit too high for my liking!! brill if ur not vry tall tho :nice:

'lumek4' post some pics of ur interior, as u reckon they differ frm normal EK4 models... maybe cos its a 99-00 model... my m8s '00 EK4 has diff material (tougher in black) on door cards & seats...

btw: G/L on ur 14's... :D

im not to sure about the effects of the tubing length on performance because top end i did notic the gains but bottonm end was pants there was hardly anythin there. but it does make them sound like a flat 4 scooby.

and that sounds like the interior iv got. much better than any other civic iv seen apart from an ek9. and its got like a blue patern. will post some pics up when i take some prob be tomorrow as its dark now lol

Well my mate had this manifold same as what we have. and with full system inc decat, air intake intake mani and type r cams made 184bhp on standard ecu settings so can't be that bad. My bottom end feels fine and my mid to high is definitly improved. Fitted spoon carbon intake today wow what a difference it make removing the upper resonator!!!:drive:

thats really good gains. i would be happy with that.thats a 26bhp increace. ye my bottom end is still ok just not anywhere as good as the 4-2-1 header. but more than makes up for it from 6000rpm-8500rpm. just feel the likes of a 4-2-1 5zigen would be better cos im sure it will be just as good top end as the cheap 4-1 headers plus u will have much more poke bottom end 2

ye i will keep posted. tomorrow is the day i will be putting my ek9 cams into the b16a2 should be fun. should have it all running tomorrow so will have pics and a write up

Read an article i'll try find it. Its more down to maufacture design the configuration with mani. They tested 10 diff all on honda b16 and the results where allo other the place. The myth of 4-2-1 gives better bottom and 4-1 gives better top does seem to be a myth. When we dyno'd my eg6 my mate had a ek idntical setup but with a 4-1 dc and he made 177.9???

i dont see how the 4-1 does give more power top end. to me its all about getting the gases flowing fast and freely and to me that is a 4-2-1 header not a 4-1. to me the 4-1 would be a bit like a bottle neak all the gases from 4 tubes all getting crammed into the one tube and to me that cant be as free flowing as a 4-2-1 header.

178bhp is good figs from the mods you have
 
head **** isn't it. Honestly though a 4-1 is said to give better top while a 4-2-1 gives better bottom to mid. How noticable it is in a b16 i've no idea. And the article i read showed completly diff result right across the board. Just choose one which has been rated. Cause i don't think it really matters to much. What configuration you have. They tested spoon dc and many others.
 
iv now finally got my fujistubo cat back exhaust fitted. only thing is now going to have to get a equal length header as i have that we scooby noise but hey can live with it for now

only got it on the night so not really had time but will try and get some better pics and a video. its weird because i bought it of my mate he had it on a ek9 and it was very loud. now its on my ek4 and dont make that much noise or nothin like it did on the 9. away to change the header as i dont like the sound of the un equal length pipes. i think its the fujitsubo RM-01a i think not sure tho will find out
 
My spon n1exhaust was the same from the ek4 to the ek9.
Power Getter i believe

yip babyface you are wright its the power getter. thats weird how its so much louder on the ek9 eh. you think its got anything to do with the more agressive cams and the higher compresion cos its no where neer as loud as it was on johns ek9
