Some of you may or may not be aware that next year there will be a new World Sports car championship, for the likes of LMP and GT cars. Well, just announced is Honda's involvement with JRM Motorsport (a.k.a Sumopower.) They will be running a Honda HPD LMP1 car next year. Another team will be running one as well called Strakka Racing. The big thing though, is that this car last year after only a couple of days of testing beat Audi and Peugeot's factory teams at the Sebring 12 hours and finished second. With a year of added testing and development, factory involvement and two crack teams Honda have a very real chance of winning the WEC (World Endurance Championship.)

Either way, it's fantastic to see Honda back in World Class motorsport and I can't wait to see the these V8 powered monsters sticking it to Audi, Peugeot and Toyota.

its good to see they can beat the big names already after a short period of testing, cant wait to see them in action now and the cars look really well as well :nice:

Nice. Just added JRM to my list of companies to pester for a job. :D

cant wait to see these at lemans it would be nice to see somebody else up there fighting with big boys

The cars will almost certainly be fighting for podiums and wins, especially now that Audi and Peugeot's massive performance advantage has been pegged back a bit. Because Audi and Peugeot run diesels, they get bigger air restrictors and ridiculous turbo boost.

With those cars pegged back a bit, the HPD's stand a real chance of winning races this year. It will also be nice to hear the rasp of the old Honda V8 back as well, they used to run the engine in the new car in their old Le Mans Prototype and it made a brilliant noise, complete with 2 foot stabs of flame as well.

End of August can't come quick enough as it's the Silverstone round of the championship. I'll be there flying the flag for JRM.
