Best 15" wheels for Big Brakes Clearance

Been trying to find what wheels have the best brake clearances without having to use spacers or have to much of an offset.

Having ET30 or ET20 offset might give you a nice stance but there is good reason to why most fast honda's are designed with ET's around 45-50. Basically when it comes to suspenssion geometry and tyre scrub angles the closer the center of the tyre patch is to the center line of the top and bottom ball joints the better. Extending the ET out further to give wider stance or to clear brakes will more than likely reduce grip capabilitys of the tyre once you enter a corner or compress/rebound the suspenssion in any way and increase the likes of bump steer, bearing and joint damage.

So I am in search of the best 15" wheels for brake clearances that can still have a close to factory ET.

So far the closest I have found is the Team Dynamics Pro race 1 15"x7" ET35 but as these are discontinued and the Pro race 1.2's dont have as much clearence so the options are limited.

Any input or findings of 15" wheels with good clearence would be great. Talking about wheel well clearance and spoke clearance for the likes of spoon calipers, wilwood 4pot 300mm, EP3 300mm, and other big brake setups.

It seems like a subject that is quite limited in factual info. Could be a sticky if enough experienced info is put up to make a list of the best wheels for big brake setups.

Recently got a set of TE37's, 15"x 8" 30et - they manage to clear freakyparts biig kit (310mm x 32mm with superlight 4pot calipers) with no spacers.

Closest point of contact is bleed nipples (3mm ish gap) as the insides near the spokes start to taper in.

The oem heat shield had to be ditched, as it was slightly touching where it was bent over the castleated nut from lower ball joint

Edit: will try and see if the rear 15"x7.5" et 35 clear, recon itll be in contact though

Cheers wazer. Good Info

I have got this posted on a few different forums and Im planning to transfer the decent Info between each of them.

So hopefully will be able to make a half decent list of 15" wheels for big brakes.

No worries!

I have a few other sets of wheels - but after installing the calipers and seeing the req'd space, i doubt theyll clear even with 2" spacers lol. :nice:

My TE37s 15x7 clear my NSX brakes fine (282mm)

I'm not sure of the ET offhand but will check and edit this post next time I take a wheel off

15" OZ supperleggeras clear my 300mm EP3 Type R brakes with abit of grinding. They are ET37 i think.

That's probably the most important thing. The make/model of wheel doesn't make too much of a difference, it's more the offset of the wheel.
The 15" 98 spec DC2 OEM alloy doesn't stand a chance in hell of clearing the Midilite kit, whereas the 15" EK9 OEM alloy does?!

Dont you mean the make and model design "Does" make the difference. Not just the offset.

As you have stated two different 15" wheels with the same ET but one is far better at clearing brakes than the other.

One of the main reasons this thread will be usefull is to find wheels that clear big brakes with as close to stock ET/Offset as possible. Thus finding the wheels with the best clearance not just lots of offset or big spacers. I know its hard to fit the likes of 300mm setups under 15" to start with, but surely we can find which ones are best.

TE 37 SL's have a ton of room too. concave shape to allow more clearance.

i have done a similar search for quite some time to find out which wheels do clear them. From people that have confirmed which wheels fit so far i have:
•Racinghart RPF
•Kosei K1
•compomotive MO
•Pro race 1
•SSR RF pro Firenze

Quotes from other forums
I'm running ep3 - 300mm brake set up and running speedlines 15" x 6" with et 39 offset. All speedline wheels seem to have good clearance.
We run a 310x32mm disc with a 4 pot on one of our 205's under an 8x15 wheel BUT its an et-0.
I went from 15x6.5" ET42 -> 15x7" ET35. What a difference!

Well it seems that one of the itr-dc2 lads have been in contact with Team dynamics and may be able to get a one off order made up of the Pro Race 1's in 15".

Take a look over and add your input if your genuinly intrested. Noting that they are most likely to be in 5 stud fittment. No use to me but oh well I will try and help spread the word.

My set of 15x7 +35 te37s and 15x7 +38 buddyclub p1s (same as kosei k1) would go fine with what you're looking for, at least with Spoon calipers.

You will need a bit more clearance for a 300-310mm 4pot floating disc setup than that for the spoon calipers. As not only do you need good wheel well clearance but you need good spoke face clearance aswell.

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 are the only ones I have seen that fit with a reasonable offset of ET35 without any spacers. Everything else seems to need to be wider offset or need spacers.

Just got word that these won't just be in 5 stud fitment, can be any 4x100 or 4x114 aswell.

So if you up for needing decent well priced wheels for big brakes track setups or even just a nice set of spare 15"''s for the track get over to ITR-DC2.

I have the team dynamics pro race 1.2, in 15" they will fit with nsx brakes easily.
The pro race 1 has a little more space that the pro race 1.2.
949 Wheels does also have a lot of clearance for brakes.
