I have just done a compression test on my 9 and i am getting 13 bar on all 4!
How do i work out what compression ratio is at?
and is that a good reading??????
cheers

That link is a bit confusing... 270psi? I don't think so.

I've got some Vtec jap mags showing a rebuilt B18C making around 225psi.

I got 230psi all 4cyl with a new guage few months ago

i had 225psi when i was all motor, but the number is not what matters, its how consistant all 4 cylinders are, did all your cylinders shoe 13 bar? if so thats fine, BUT MAKE SURE TO DROP YOUR OIL PAN you probably have some metal in there that needs to come out before it clogs your oil pick up and you blow your motor!!!

I thought it seemed to be ok!:nice:

I will be removing the oil pan to have a further look and to see if there is ant shards of metal in there!

not driving the car at the mo till i know the for sure it is ok!

But i now plan for a b18 swap anyway! lol:clap:

I don't know if your compression is ok mate, but for me its way too low, mine had 225 psi in all cylinders. yours have 188 psi!

how many miles does the motor has ?

My motor has about 65,000 miles on it!
but after reading most people getting 220-230 psi, dont think mine is to good!:(

that is why i have decided to go with the b18 swap!:nice:

every tester is a little different, whats important is the difference cylinder to cylinder, and if you didnt hold the TB open its going to give you low numbers.

That may well be the reason for the low numbers then!
because i did not hold the TB open in fact it was tatally closed!:angry2:
Ill try it agen asap, but im still goin for the b18 swap anyway, got excited about it now! lol

do you have any dyno numbers? :nerv:

make sure you take all the spark-plugs out before you crank it over (as if your dont then it loads the bearings on the compression stroke!), and like Blinx said, hold the accelorator down to give WOT, then crank it over five or six times until it doesnt go up any more. which should be 5or 6 chugs
