Trying to find a happy medium, good quality brake disk. Ive had two sets of OEM 282mm 4x100 (done a big brake conversion onto my civic) and ive warped both sets. Just wondering if anyone has used any that are good but are like 300 quid. Cheers guys. Good pads to go with them would be great also

what oem honda run 282mm 4x100 disc?

EBC blank disc (Rover MG ZS)280mm is what im running with project mu pads

Ferodo ds2500 are great pads so look into them.

None ive fitted 282mm callipers and have to get MG ZS disks. But its on my civic. And ill have a look at the ebc stuff....

What calipers are you using with the zs discs? im guessing they are not zs calipers...

if you read your post it says you have warped two sets of 282mm discs, thats why i asked as that spec is not an oem honda disc hence why you use the Rover items.

98 spec DC2 calipers,straight bolt on :nice:

UK DC2 are the same as well as EK9,you can use others also!

Ive heard of discs warping when using the zs discs with different calipers other than the zs calipers.....just my 2p's worth though. Il report back when i get my brakes fitted tomorrow and do a track day with them on the 20th :nice:

I currently use MG ZS180 EBC Ultimax disks for my fronts which have been on the car since August last year. I've done eight track days since then and they still look in reasonably shape. Definitely not warped at all but showing that sort of fractured look most disks get when they've been shown quite a few serious heat cycles.
Will definitely go for the same again when I do eventually knacker them. Nice and quiet too for slotted rotors.

I can't imagine why mate - I use MB6 calipers and carriers on mine and have had no problems. It is possible you might get uneven pad wear as the offset of the MG disk is slightly different to the MB6, DC2 or whatever, but it's nothing I've experienced.

id say you have issue with braking system somewhere if ruined 2 sets of discs, iv had 282 conversion on my ek4 for several years and used about 3 sets of discs (2 new sets of mg zs and 1 ebc), ebc lasted no where near as long and signs of wear were much clearer

driven car daily for last several years and on track and punished brakes on some days just to see point they would fail but never have, i run new honda legend calipers with mine

could even be issue outside of braking system such as bearings, again i fitted brand new oem bearings so knew overall balance of car would be reasonable

All my wheel bearing's, hub's, copper lines front to back, HEL braided hoses and racing fluid. The disks are just crap imo and i need new ones haha

usually use vttr racing slotted 282mm with 4 x 100 fitment made especially for type r calipers on vti/sir:nice:

so are all your bearings and calipers new ?

youve not mentioned which pads you use, discs rarely warp, usually just deposits of pads stuck on that give that impression

green stuff pads at the moment, ive had both set of disks on a jig they are definately warped. No trying to start an arguement but every post you have put is try to say im not doing something right or i am wrong. Ive only asked if people can recommend me disks thats all......

contact ap racing, can supply whatever discs you want, ap dixcel offer discs in that size as well, stop tech

I'll get spoon 4 spot callipers on my ek4. What's the biggest rotor that I can fit wirhout any modification ? Is the 282 mm ??

Hello,

I need front brake discs 4x100 282mm. I need something more serious, I have ds2500 pads, but i've used ebc plain discs and they are peace of ****. So I would like to buy something more serious with track in mind. I looked at brembo sport, but they dont make these with 4x100 holes? What can you offer? what could be the lowest prices delivered to Milton Keynes?

Thank you.

So do FreakyParts.. at a fraction of those suppliers charge ;)

Grantek, are you making sure you're bedding in your pads properly?

I haven't seen the rotor ever cause a problem. As someone said it's always uneven pad transfer layer on your rotor that builds up causing a warped feeling.

If you insist on recommendations though, I use the cheapest rotors from Autozone (US).
If I was racing I would use thicker ones from Napa (another US auto parts store) for better heat sink.

Oddly enough only rotor that I've seen that was built bad was a brembo blank, pretty expensive rotor too for a blank. The inside face was thinner than the outside.
