My B18C-R EK9 review

ek9dan: haha so you finally understand what 200cc can do on a honda :p

you should get WILL(ek9turbo) to tune your car. You've yet to experience the 2nd level of shock like Jimbob has. I've a PFC for sale on ebay atm btw.

800pounds for engine swap is F nuts!!!

EK9DAN jugbugz is rite you have still got a shock to come!
& believe me the second shock is better than the first! :D

Dan,

Did you use your original gearbox?

I'm not going to be opening the box and putting different final drives and all this, just want to keep it simple.

So for street, is it best to use EK9 box on the B18C or the Teg box?

Right, Ive picked up my EK9 today after haveing the 98 spec B18C-R engine put in.

Mods are:

Apexi exhaust system
Import sprung custom header
Decat
Apexi intake
3.8KG flywheel
B16B gearbox with OEM 4.4 final drive

Gee he is running 4.4 FD,

Also EK9Dan what ECU are you running mate ;)

Stock on a EK9 B16B, its a S4C Gearbox witha 4.4 FD, Gee i wanna B18 my EK9 aswell but not sure as i would miss that high Revvy MotorBike feel....

@Jugbugs, I do now mate, i do now :nice: I was very wrong! And i am planning on a Will tune in the next few months hopefully.

@Jimbob, ohhhhh dont get me all excited lol

@Gee, yeah as KAKS said, using B16B gearbox. I dont actually know whats better to use but the B16B box works a treat and pulls through the revs great!

@kaks_EK9Rx, You wont miss it mate, trust me on that one.

Got it Dynod today and made 176WHP and 125lbs These figures are AT THE WHEELS

So Fly power maybe something like 205BHP/ 145-150lbs...

along those lines...........

Sound's good to me mate!:nice:
Did you ever have your B16B on the dyno mate?
Were you get it dynoed @ mate?

Dan, you willing to give me a little passener witness of your B18 sometime? :p

i might b18 mine if i like the feel of how yours pulls ;)

Once you've touched the B18C, the B16B becomes a distant past. You'll forget it instantly and only remember that 'yeh it was good on paper and didnt fulfill anything other than that'.

B16B only looks good on paper yet still limited to the performance of a 1.6. Honestly I can't be bothered revving my ek9 so I drive mine like a granny on the roads. I know most ppl here experience that. But with my stock DC2R, theres just so much more torque everywhere and much more joy in revving it in any rev range. you dont need to be in Vtec to feel torque. Once modded, the B18C becomes a true beast! I dont know of any other 1.8L motor that comes close to it.

Ek9dan: get a 'Will' tune! :nice:

I did get it dynod when i first got it stock and made 138WHP which i think was low, but after driving it more and more loosened up and with a couple of Bolt on mods felt alot faster. was first dynod at Surrey RR, this time was at TDI.

I can say ive gained about 25WHP/30lbs torque with the conversion. Im confidant my B16B was pushing about 150-155WHP.....

Bro what ECU are you running ;)

Using stock JDM ITR ECU dude

Nice one Dan.

Definately my next mod after sorting the brakes and pads.

after having a shot in a b18c ek9 and a b16b ek9 i can definatly say if i done the swap i would miss the revy b16b.
But on the other hand a b18 ek9 is a very quick car and the torque is so much better.

cheers zubzub for the shot mate
