Thought I would see for myself about the resonator removal etc. I didnt want to spend £100 on a peice of tiny SPOON pipe. Seemed easier to remove the drivers wheel so I did, undid the arch liner and using the other threads as a guide removed the lower resonator (3x10mm bolts.). I cut the pipe just below where it fixes to the resonator and put it back on the car as tempory for now, worth noting that it is not round, at certain points it is oval shaped.
Then I had a look at the other resonator, to remove it you need a 10mm socket for 2 bolts, & one 8mm for where it fixes to the airbox. I tried a peice of 70mm gutter pipe it fitted ok at the airbox end but with a small gap, but at the tb end it needed to be 76mm, also for a better fit of course an angle. Note at the tb end it is round but at the airbox it is oval again. Put it all back together for a test drive - not much difference at this stage.
Then I ordered one of these to cut down and use..
45 Degree 76mm Hose Joiner Elbow from Merlin Motorsport
Before it arrived I saw a mate who had an old IK, so I trimmed his 76mm 45 degree bend down a touch, I needed vaseline to force the end into the tb side ooh err! Then you will see in the other picture I drilled a hole for a cable tie to hold the airbox in place. Stage one complete.
Tomorrow I will try to sort a CAF to the bumper using some of this..
3 in (80mm) ALUMINIUM CORRIGATED SEMI FLEXIBLE DUCTING on eBay, also, Other Heating Cooling Air, Heating Cooling Air, Home Garden (end time 26-Jul-08 22:52:42 BST)
Test drove the car and it pulls a fair bit harder than before, definately noticeable and thats without the CAF. It looks homemade for sure but I will modify things more later for a better finish
