hello ek9.org members have a quick question i am changing my valve stem seals, pistons and piston rings due to heavy smoke, so got wossner forged pistons for free but to change these pistons would i have to change the rods, the machine shop said he will machine the rods to fit but wont give gurantee with this work.

mods are currently
b18cr 98
4.7fd
skunk 2 inlet 70mm
blox tb 70mm
hondata inlet gasket
jasma stampd 4-2-1
2.5 de cat
custom made ss exhaust
aem long arm induction
magnecore igtion leads
chiped on crome

will i have to change the rods for this set up, i wont be going on the cam route just want the engine to be strong and not smoke

any help would be great full and more then apreciated

Personally if I was having all that work done and fitting an aftermarket set of pistons I would pair them to a set of aftermarket rods.

Eagle rods are around £250 if ordered from the states and come with ARP rod bolts in the box (you'll need to buy new rod bolts anyway)...

when you are that far in it would be best to change rods and new bearings

yeah as said by these guys, probs wouldnt go down the route of machining the standard rods I was advised against it when suggested it.. plus the b18 rods max they good for bein reved to is 9k, assuming your goin high comp you'll be makin power high up the revs which aftermarket rods will happily take.
