heya guys..just wondering if anyones replaced one? mines gone and has started to knock and make the car a little twitchy. gonna ask a garage but was wondering how hard to how much of a job it is etc.

im a mechanic mysel . very easy job to do will take a garage approx 15 mins max to do it . i replaced both mine i think they cost me about 18 quid each from local motor factor .

they are simple to do u jus need to loosin the nut at the end of the track rod end an take of the nut for the ball joint knock the ball joint out of the hub an jus twist the track rod end off an put new one in its place an do it all back up tight job done

pretty much what i thought.see how adventurous im feeling as it would be nice to save some money.
its just the taking and putting back the ball joint - hub that always worrys me..dunno why.lol

the ball joint is the only annoyin bit u really need an air gun to put them on otherwise wen u turn the nut the ball joint will spin....but some ball joints come wit allen key head at the end so u can hold the ball joint still an put the nut on wit a spanner.

if u have an air gun ull fly through it wit no problems but if u dont try get the track rod end wit the allen key head on the end of the ball joint

Dont put cheap crap on your type-R the honda ones are designed for hundreds of thousands of miles, if its failing then that because of the car being park and steer'd against kurbs/been in a bump/massive pothole on a turn etc.

Theyre incredibly high quality ball joints from the factory.

thought id go through Honda to see what their prices were.

basically £225 all in including tracking!!!! what a rip off! lol asked for a part price and it was £68 or so not including VAT!!!
called a local garage that i use alot for tyres etc and they reckon short job £80 all in .lol. what a difference

£225

buy the originals & get them fitted elsewhere... like mentioned these r tough!

would be a good idea to replace rear 1's too... :nice:

stick to factory. Bernard of Auto-dynamics internations will get you one for nearly half price at best :nice:

THose aftermarket pieces arnt worth their weight in scrap.
