Research Question: EK4 performance after EK9 mods

I've been browsing through the forum for a while now and I was wondering what the performance of an EK4 (ie. handling, speed, etc.) is like after an EK9 conversion.

I'm aware that the frame of the EK9 is stronger than the EK4 but is this only in particular spots or the entire frame?

The main reason I'm asking is because I think it will be near impossible to get an EK9 in Australia so I'm left with an EK4. I also think it would be fun to do one up, especially since I've never done much with cars before :)

If you do an exact conversion, the performance will be equal in all aspects. But who does exact conversions when you can spend more (sometimes less) money and have better than OEM parts?
As for the frame, you can make it just as strong and stronger than the ek9 frame using seam welding, steel pop riveting, and chassis bracing.

i thought ek9 wheelbase is/was longer wider than ek4! can some one clear this up with facts?

i think i read on this site that ek9 wheelbase is longer than ek4 or something. . .

wheelbase is longer indeed, also lots of differences in the chassis in the form of strengthening/reduction of weight etc

you could try and make an ek9 out of an ek4 but it wouldn't be quite as good as the real thing !

no the wheel base width an length would be the same...maybe ur thinkin of the integra has a slightly shorter wheel base but the body is an inche longer!

You can put ek9 bolt ons, but what about the chassis? it's totally different!

According to Wikipedia the wheelbase, length, and width are identical. Although it's Wikipedia, I would tend to agree, mainly because real EK9 body kits fit perfectly.

Extra welding would be easy to get done so that's not too much of a problem.

I'm finding it difficult to find diagrams (preferred) or at least descriptions of how and where the frame of the EK9 is strengthened. I've got the 96-00 Civic manual but it doesn't *really* cover the EK9.
