Afternoon guys, basically I get really bad reception on my radio. I don't know what type of aerial it has but I just wondered if there's some kind of signal booster you can buy?

This is the stereo:

That looks like an aftermarket radio, correct? Is it plugged into the cars stock antenna, and is the antenna fully extended? If its not connected to the stock antenna, you could be using the aftermarket radio's internal antenna reciever, which wont get good reception.

Yep, aftermarket mate. Pioneer CDA-9831R I think? Not sure if it's connected to the stock aerial, I guess I can find out by putting it fully down and check if the signal gets worse? if it doesn't it's connected to the internal one, hence the bad signal?

I'll have a play tomorrow.

You will have to take out the radio, same thing happen to me, the antena plug was not plugged firmly, that was the problem, good luck mate :woot:

If the radio just comes out strait you can check if its plugged in, if it doesent the most you need to disassemble the center console is a screwdriver and a few minutes. And putting the antenna down fully would be a good test, that should tell you if its using the cars antenna or the radio's internal one. Youll easily know which one is the antenna jack, its a thick wire and it plugs in like a mini- cigarette lighter type jack.
