Here's the situation. As with most 300++whp FWD cars, wheelspin is a very big issue in improving your 1/4 mile times.

Now, assuming that the power/torque from the engine and the friction coefficient on my tire will remain constant, is it logical for me to use a taller 1st gear?

Because in my opinion and based on what I have observed, cars that get good 60ft times put their 1st gears on good use (meaning instead of just wheelspinning in one place, they do actually go somewhere). I have gone thru the "decreasing the power" way (gear based boost, smoother torque curve thru higher compression ratio, etc) but I just can't help but feel a little stubborn on turning the power down at low speeds.

I wouldn't want to use slicks, and I am using the stickiest tires available locally that's within my budget, plus suspension settings best suited for drag. This is very exploratory to me, and I want some inputs from you guys.

What do you think? Logical? Or am I just plain nuts?:please: I'm just using an 4.4 LSD ITR btw, so let this be the basis.
