Manual rack swap???

I've just ordered a manual steering rack, it comes with inner joints but not track rod ends, will my power steering track rod ends fit the manual rack? And will the rack fit straight onto the steering column?

i want to know the answer too.

i have done the same thing on the old corolla, some parts need swap over. i.e. cross member, steering column.
 
Converting an EK9 rack to manual would be better, EK9 rack is nice and short, gives MUCH better feedback than a standard rack
 
I'll try a normal one if I don't like it I'll get an ek9 one, doesn't the race base have a manual rack with no ps?
 
i think yes afaik race base dose'nt have p/s.
can i use a manual rack from eg dx civic too or i need the whole thing that rack is mounted on?(lol i can't remember the name of it lol)
 
You mean the subframe? Um I'm not sure if an eg subframe and rack will fit a 6th gen chassis,

I may have to find a chassis number from a race base ek9 then if this rack doesn't work out.....
 
yes subframe !! lol
you can always make your p/s rack a non one it works the same.
 
yeah but it should fail an MOT if it has a power steering rack and it doesnt work i work in a garage so it shouldnt matter but im trying to make it a legit as poss, you know what i mean?

I failed a car inspection by making a power steering rack to manual steering. May i ask what manual steering rack are you getting? I could not find a part number for manual steering rack for RHD EK.
 
Right it seems there is a choice of two. The first one was wrong, where the rack bolts to the subframe the holes were in a different place. hopefully I'll recieve the other one today so I'll check it and report back :)
