i have a ek3 hatchback and i want to make my rear lights to light like ek9's.

ek3 has the fog light at the position that ek9 has stop light but only at the drivers side
so i think i can take power with a cable from the wires of the fog light and on the other side i can put another lamp  ?
but first i need to open a hole at the passengers rear light so i can fit the extra lamp.

the things seems easy till here the only trouble is how
i will make the conections ?:nerv::nerv:

Can you post some photos?

Moved to interior / exterior forum.

sorry for the late response rvm put i was bizzy these days :)

well ek9 has different night look from other ek's

also ek9 has the fog light as an extra as far as i know
ek4/3,ej has the fog light inside the rearlamp at the drivers side like the arrow is showing here

on the other passengers side there is no lamp at the rearlamp
and it's very easy to open a hole and fit another lamp there too as i did here

my question is here at this step :nerv:
can i take power from the wires 1 and 2 as the picture shows ?

FORWARD
for those that are like me and didnt know what to do and couldnt find a 'how to do' anywhere

first of all you need to buy one fog light holder for the passenger side and two bulbs to go in each fog light holder (the bulbs i got for the bottom lights were from Halfords and the bulb code is 207S, these will fit in your fog light holders but only have the brightness of side lights ).

once you have these three things you can do the conversion.

First thing you need to do is make the hole for the passenger bottom light.. the red circle shows where to make the hole:

theres a few ways of making this hole.. you can use the stanley knife method: Drill one hole then cut the plastic (but this takes a while)
You can just drill loads of holes around the edge untill the plastic falls through
You can use my method but it could go wrong and damage your light so i wouldnt recomend it.. i heated up a large socket hot enough for it to melt the plastic then i just poked the socket though

Passenger side

First of all you need to make a hole at the bottom of the light for the fog light holder (the one you bought) to fit, i heated up a socket and poked it through the plastic (melted through)

the fog light has one red wire coming from the bulb and one black wire coming from the light holder.
the side light has one green wire and one red wire coming from the bulb and one black wire coming from the light holder.

you need to wire the fog light red wire to the side light red wire and the fog light black wire to the side light black wire.. a diagram:

Drivers side

with the drivers side you already have a fog light and a fog light holder ready in. in this i swapped the reverse light with the fog light so my fog light is in the reverse light section and my reverse light is in the fog light section

to make the reverse light into a side light.

The reverse light has one green wire coming from the bulb and one black wire coming from the light holder.
the side light has one green wire and one red wire coming from the bulb and one black wire coming from the light holder.

you need to cut the green wire from the reverse light (ONLY the green wire NOT the black).. then connect the reverse light green wire to the side light RED wire.

So with the drivers side the only thing you need to connect is the green reverse wire with the side light red wire (leave the fog light wires).. this way you will have a fog light instead of a drivers reverse light and this = MOT pass ... a diagram:

Finished result :nice:
