Hi guys
I am going to remap and I just want to ask if I can put any other mods to increase hp in my b16b engine
My current mods are:
AEM V2 cai
4-1 exhaust manifold and 63.5mm till the end
Macnegor sparkplugs
And an s80 4.7 gearbox

Except from stroking
Boost
Or spray
Stock engine

Generally it takes an intake upgrade, larger 4-2-1 and a 2.5inch system with sports (or no) cat to get a B16B to 185bhp.

The most obvious ways to increase power are to increase compression, do somehead porting, fit wilder cams (which may require extra revs and thus some forged bottom end parts past a point) and then consider a better manifold and larger TB.

The only easy route would be "drop in cams" but there isnt much if any 'easy power' left in a b16b - honda did it all.

So with the mods I have now and a remap how much hp you thing I will be to??

As above the B16B is so highly strung from the factory that any more gains require £££. You will not get much more power out of it than you currently have with your setup, you might get better power delivery through the rev range and perhaps a little higher rev limit which I find helps with shorter gearing. Forget about people claiming they got 200hp out of a stock B16B, not going to happen. If you drop in a little wilder cams then perhaps you could squeeze a little more out than the 185 but I feel it's not worth the gain. To go north of 200 means going either FI or spending lots of dough on forged bottom and and expensive head work.

So answer your question directly - breathing mods and a good calibration on a well run in engine with perfect compression will just about scrape stock power.

I had a perfectly good B16B - you could have eaten your lunch off the internals - with a TODA manifold, decat, spoon B-pipe and backbox and a DC2 airbox. On a very honest dyno (EFI parts in Runcorn) it made 182bhp.

A calibration to lean it out a bit might have netted 3-5hp more perhaps!

Part of this will be down to the better fuel (100ron?) these engines are designed for and are calibrated to run on.

Edit:- Don't let this get you down - 185bhp is incredible from a 1.6!!
