Hi,

I like the whole jap plate thing so I ordered a set of 12X6 plates with the reg mark in one line such as B16CVC, since I have a private plate I wanted it like that, so I wanted to know, for all you who have it, have you ever got pulled over?

i've been told the 12x6 sizes are illegal unless your car is an import or is it the size of the lettering? I can't remember exactly though. my car isn't import and I have those plates on, have yet to been have pulled over but i'm guessing you'd have to be really unlucky to be pulled over.

a guy i know is a cop and i asked if he'd pull over anyone with jap sized plates and he says you'd have to be a right prick of a cop to do that lol.

To be honest i think as long as the plate can be read easily it should be fine, you get neds/chavs with plates having weird fonts n stuff. hate that!

Its the same plate as what seanek3 has on his EK9 on here, but obviously different reg lol.

I got told by my MOTer's that if that car can fit UK plates on, import or not then it should have UK plates.

Like Ally said, the copper must be a right dickhead to pull you over and book you for it.

I am sourcing a EK9 rear recess for it, so should be ok shouldn't it?

Most coppers around here are right dikheads, so I am just worried lol.

I had exactly that, 12x6 on 1 line, mine said B18KEF

i got pulled over once for something other than my plates, and the copper said he could read it fine so he was happy for me to carry on,

3 months later i got done off another police officer for the plate.. so its not legal, its just the risk you take lol

tbh there not gunna know the difference betweek a uk/import recess lol.

if they know there MOT book, theyll know that if a car can have a uk plate. it should have a uk plate

As said you need to have UK plates if you can fit these. For example on th EK9 you can fit the front UK plate no bother but you can't fit the rear - When I bought my 9 it had a spare UK size rear number plate in the boot in case it was necessary to prove that it really won't fit :D As for being pulled - I don't think there are many cops that will pull you for that, but remember anytime you do something wrong, something they saw you doing but can't prove (like speeding) and then they will look for anything just to give you a ticket!

bit late now, but ive had import size plates on 3 of my civics (none of them imports) and never had any problems. as far as im aware seans never had any problems with his 1 line plate either.
