Hey. Some advise please guy's.

I have a B18 Turbo with a 98spec S80 gearbox. I was thinking about replacing the gearbox with a S9B with lsd gearbox. Would this be a good move?

If it is a good move to make. How much is the S80 gearbox worth? I had it serviced before it went back in with the engine about 3k miles ago.

Cheers

I think a longer ratio box makes sense on a boosted Honda. Will need a diff tho. S80 prob worth around 350-400£

Cheers. The S9B I'm looking at has a lsd I will run with the standred LSD at first then upgrade later on.

Very wise

Most b18 turbo builds run the s9b as its better suited to boost

I might be interested in the box if you do go for the swap, providing it is crunch/whine free...

I was coming in here expecting to see a "im considering breaking my car" type thread because of the title...thank god! Haha

There is no way in hell this car will be getting brocken. It's to much fun to drive. It will just be getting made better and better :nerv:

Also there is no crunching or whining from the box.

I have offered oifove to come out in the car with the box still installed to prove that everything is 100% with the box. Only reason for change is cos it's now turbo'ed.

Need to take me out in it at some point :p

Depends what power your car makes I would say dude on which box would be better

Also the value of your S80 really depends on the spec - I normally sell 4.4FD JDM S80's for £450 and UK S80's with the 4.7FD for atleast £500!

At the moment the car is running 307bhp at the fly.

I was told when I bought the car it was a 4.7FD. Is there anyway of verafying this? Just so I'm 100% that on what I'm selling someone?

First, I'm not trying to be a douche. If you already have the box off and open you can calculate your final drive by counting the teeth on the gears. There are many websites that have the required formulas to figure out your final drive/gear ratio based off of this. A quick way to verify this would be to count your teeth and compare the numbers against someone who knows for sure they have a 4.7FD, math wouldn't be involved then.

This would let you know for certain, without a doubt, what your final drive is. Math doesn't lie.

Other than that, there may be a serial number some where but chances are you wont be able to see it without taking it all apart.
