high rpms = oil consumption
not news around here, lol.
what you see is only part of the story, its burning oil as much or more during accelerating, its just much harder to see due to exhaust speed at the tail pipe. When you let off the gas the exhaust speed is reduced and you see a plume of smoke which goes away just as fast as it showed up. better to burn a tad over nothing at all.
hondas burn oil when they are driven hard.
i get that type r burn oil as it is.
this is my problem tho. last oil change i only got 2,500 miles out of it before i was empty to the floor. that was on royal purple and i hesard that **** sucks on hondas.
so i go with mobil 1, now WHAT I HAVE SEEN, NOT SURE...smokes in hot/warm weather, when outside temp is cool, no smoke comes out. does that make sense to anyone? also i re-call the only at 8,500 rpms smoking. i downshifted from 2nd to 1st at 32mph when it was hot outrside it smokes starting 8k. so 8k on plus...
it seems that it does when im shifting by lettin go of gas, but i also tried just taking it to 8,500 and no shifting, just let it slow down on its own and it smoked but not as much as when i shift ...now when im shifting, thats a diff story... it smokes but its also never alot...just smoke for a quick 2-3 seconds.
thx for all the help, hondatech people would have been talking their **** already lol
bottom line is
i heard pistong rings when they go bad, u have the following
-low compression...but my numbers were great, 250 across...
-constantly smoking while idle, crusing.., not just past 8k...
when is valve seals
-smoke at cold start up..- I DONT HAVE THAT...
i only smoke past 8k for 2-3 secs but im concerened thats whats causing my low level of oil, but why? if my compression test was done 3 times to be sure and it came out good?
