I don't know if it's possible, but it would be brilliant if there was a 'BUMP' option in the 'Thread Tools' so that, especially on For Sale threads, you don't have to keep posting 'Bump', 'ttt' etc. and could just click to bump it to the top of the threads without wasteful posts.

I think that's a good idea mate. But to work properly it would have to be limited to like 1 bump per week or something along those line's you know? or else everyone will just bump everyday!

Yeh, there'd have to be a limit or something, but I hate having to bump a thread by triple-posting and things. Big 'for sale' threads end up being 1/2 bumps and 1/2 questions sometimes!

This won't work in practice. If you take the time to go into the thread and click "bump" you can take the time to reply and type "bump".

This is something everyone has always had to deal with in forums. You should see how fast the HT forums move in the for sale section. You have to bump every hour or so...

lol..yea but the whole reason why he has suggested it is so you cant just type bump and waste a post in the for sale section. If you have a button to bump instead of wasting a post it keeps the for sale thread neat and uncluttered, its not about taking the time to do it thats the problem here.

Exactly as JDMarron put, it's just to neaten things up and streamline it. It might even also help outside of the for sale section when unanswered questions get ignored, people are more likely to bump them than they are to double-post or with project threads to bump it to the top if comments aren't forthcoming.

Ok, I'll address that point of view as well. If a string of posts with the word "bump" in them messes up your ability to read and respond to legit requests to purchase your product than maybe you need to hop off the forum and go see a psychologist. I understand your point of view...I do...but coming from a guy who deals with his own website and code...it would be a huge pain in the ass to code all that in. It probably won't happen for you.
To CW: This is the way of the forums..........people bump....it should never be an issue. If by "Double Posting" you mean posting in two separate forum sections they're violating the rules of the forums anyway.

Please don't patronise me, all I've read from you over the last couple of days are condescending posts on some topic or another. For someone who wrote a lengthy thread proffering cordiality between other forum members you are falling upon your own sword.

I am neither patronizing nor condescending. I'm merely pointing out the futility of your request. I understand your idea and in theory it may be valid but it is hard to code it in and seeing as how all forums have been operating smoothly without it for years I don't see the issue. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine.
edit: and it would seem that British and American humor is incompatible, eh? Sarcasm is my tool of the humor trade...I guess I'll have to cut down on it a bit around you guys.

Nice bloke

Well I don't have my own website and I'm far from being a computer whizz unlike you evidently are GTLVR82, but one thing I can do is use Google...

And there seems to be a 'hack' template to add the Bump option to the Thread Tools, the same one I have also seen and used on other message boards. All the hard work seems to have been done, all it requires is implementation.

Bump Threads/Make Threads older - vBulletin.org Forum

Perhaps my request is not as 'futile' as it first seemed to some people...eh?

Well when you're right you're right. I went through and looked at the posts on the link you posted. It seems there was a bug mentioned that had people uninstalling it. I did go to the websites posted in the thread you linked that said they had installed it. I went pretty far back in their thread pages to look for the "thread bumper" but I think I have to be registered.
Here is another but it's "quarantined": Click Me!
The original one you posted was also only for admin and moderators although people were asking if it could be modified. That is why I couldn't see it. It also worked up to the 3.8.4 version of VB.
