Yet, another S2K project

Gauges & Sensors installed but not wired up yet:
  • oil temp
  • oil pressure
  • water temp
  • cruise control unit
Keeping to my original plan for this track car,
which is to retain all the creature comforts:
AC, power steering, cruise control and radio.

Currently with the quick release OMP steering
wheel I do not have access to cruise control, so
I've disassembled the OEM steering wheel
and removed the cruise control unit, wires and clip.
Relocated the control unit and mounted to the door card.

Oil temp sensor:

Oil pressure access and line going over to the sending unit, out of picture.
I needed to file down the block casting to allow room for the -4AN fitting, as seen in this photo. (pain the ass)

Mounted two electrical gauges on the door card [home made aluminum gauge brackets] and one to the steering column cover.
Everything on dash is still accessible, alerts can all be seen. Only issue is less room for hands when turning on and off the headlights. :)

Relocated cruise control switch, which once was on the OEM steering wheel, onto the door card as well.

I spent more than a day planning out and mocking up where everything needs to go.
Wiring it all up should be the simple part as its all electrical sending units and gauges.
Not as easy as a civic to locate gauge space and sending units due to the lack of room on the s2000's.

Anywho--thats the update for now.

Small update...Decided to swap out the Auto Meter oil temp gauge for an AEM digital gauge.

Amazing as always Tama, been thinking of a switch to a S2k In the near future

Deffo one I'm considering mate

Because Mugen hardtop; this helps deflect the air rushing into the cabin making sound wave oscillation and flexing of the rear window to the point of popping out.

I was told finding places to mount the gauges would be the biggest issue.
It was a small issue finding the gauges a place to live, however inserting 3 fuse boxes into the mix was a larger issue.
I ended up gutting out an old B series ECU/ECM case and mounting 3 of the below fuse boxes/surge protectors into the case.
They fit nicely even with the ECU top bolted down...ran all the wires yesterday getting ready to install it all...

1 ignition fuse box, 1 light fuse box and 1 battery fuse box...each has 4 outlets and direct power and ground. These will be for the additional gauges and lights for gauges, 2 GoPro cameras and 2 GoPro battery/WiFi packs, garage door remote...with some room to expand.

Well...I've decided to switch out the auto meter oil temp gauge with a full sweep AEM digital temp gauge.
The sending unit is for a full sweep gauge which mine was not, not finding anything style wise to match, close I had come is the AEM digital gauge.

ha! thanks.

Spent a few days working out some of the wiring issues with the cruse control; fixed.

The last issue being the sending unit and gauge for the water temp.
The current gauge is a short sweep auto meter deal, low cost electric gauge.
Im switching that out to AEM like I did for the oil temp...keeping the water and oil temp gauges the same. Less thinking more driving....

Running out of things to fix on the s2000...lol
