Winning the lottery

Provided you don't go out and buy a big house, furnish it, buy a few nice cars etc... Winning that amount of money would be so overwhelming that your lifestyle would change without you even knowing it, and that money would soon run down. Unless you are really sensible, but lets face it, people on this forum are hardly going to be sensible... Spending thousands on 90's cars... Nothing sensible about it  All fun and games though!

Personally, I would walk into the most overpriced bar, in the most underdressed clothing possible (hopefully drawing as much attention to myself as possible), buy the most expensive bottle of champagne, paying only in 20p coins, take a sip, then offer it to some stranger at the bar next to me because I forgot I hated champagne.

I would be in the 60% that would end up bankrupt, which is another reason why I would continue working. But I think I would have a pretty funny time while it lasted.

I remember reading an article a few years back that said over 60% of people who unexpectedly came into a large sums of money ended up either bankrupt or back where they started within several years. I guarantee that most of that 60% are people who dream of winning the lottery everyday and people who are into cars.

Yes there will be people who save the money away and live off the interest, but how boring is that!! Plus with our crappy interest rates at the moment you would only get 20-30k a year from 10m... I'd rather spunk every penny on the most ridiculous things!
I think I'd start my own business and do it my own way only, simply because I wouldn't need to live of it.

If you would want 50k a year to live from and assume that you live another 50 years tha would be 2,5 million. You can do crazy things of the other 7,5 million, not counting any money you will still earn cause yes, most people wouldn't be happy doing nothing for their daily lives.

would be a godsend to come into that kind of money

i stand far more of a chance of being bitten by Luis Suarez though :((

Why not buy real estate and live from the rent people pay you?
You'll still have an income but don't really have to work for it...

my god this thread has been hit with some kind of wave of stupidity, jesus christ.

because lets face it, there is nothing more unprofessional than a civic type r ;)

Dumb-ass comment no.1.

Plus 10m would not see you out, you would still need a job. Even if it was 100m, I would still want to be working, although maybe just 4 days a week!

Dont even know where to begin with this post. The worst logic. So much facepalm.

:angry2::angry2::angry2::angry2: get a brain man.

Is this post for real? You clearly have no concept of what property management is actually like. There is most definitely work involved, usually at inconvenient times. Not to mention standard agency problems.

I'm just saying it's not a 9 to 5 job for 5 or 6 days a week like most other jobs, hence why I said you don't 'really' have to work for it.

And it's not like you can't hire someone to help you if you have that kind of money?! Our landlord still has his 40 hour a week job + 6 properties to rent out, so I'm pretty sure this isn't the hardest or most time consuming job in the world if you have enough money.

And I'd say 10 mill. is enough money.

I matched 5 numbers few weeks back. But if I did win it. I buy bigger house maybe just a simple 3-4 beds detached house. Split 80% of the money into many different banks and receive interest from them. 20% on cars and family and friends. Go out and buy myself a preowned Audi R8 and a simple Honda family car for every day.

This ^^^^^^^ :nice:

Id buy 689r a gun and mot his ek9

And maybe a rs6 but i better be careful because 10mil wouldnt span out that long... right lol

:D

Though I would give 698R a more full-bodied response as my head is a little more screwed on now.

You seem to be an extremely opinionated person, but what you should learn is that most of your opinions are worth nothing. I'm not really going to argue with you, because arguing with a highly opinionated person is always going to be a lost cause. However, you say I have the worst logic for stating that 60% of people who win the lottery end up bankrupt within several years. Think of it like this; If you had a bowl of peanuts, or whatever, on your desk at work, it is very likely that by the end of the day, most of the peanuts would have gone. It is a basic test of human self control. But, if there were no peanuts around at all, it wouldn't bother you, and your day would go on as normal. Likewise, if you have a very high paying job, you buy more expensive things, live a more expensive lifestyle, and you have a constant flow of money coming in to fund this. However, winning the lottery and coming into such a huge amount of money can lead people to believe that they can live the expensive lifestyle and do anything. They can, for a while, but with all the emotion that comes with winning even the most sensible of humans can loose sight of the value of money and can go over the top. It is a common reaction and can happen to even the most unsuspecting people. So please, face palm yourself as much as you like, but it is a statistic, and money has a very controlling effect on a large percentage of people.

As for your dumb-ass No.2 comment... What is wrong with wanting to work?? You may not like your job, but my future career is my passion, why would I quit my passion?

In response to you telling me to "get a brain man". If I won 10 million, I can do whatever I want with it. Why are you annoyed by that? I probably wouldn't actually do the champagne thing, but what I meant by this is that I would just go out and have the best 10 years of my life, experience and see as much as I could, with as many of my friends as I could. If in 10 years time I had blown every penny and I am back where I am now then I would be happy as I have had an amazing time to remember. I completely understand If you would save the money so you can get the stone chips repaired on your car every year, and settle down into a nice house etc... We are all different, no need to rain down on others just because they don't want to think about the distant future and just want to enjoy the now.

Finally, I'm sorry, but who are you trying to kid... an ek9 is a lot of things but it is not professional car. Unfortunately in the real world judgment and first impressions are thrown about far too easily, and even if you are fantastic at what you do, it will be hard to break through the initial impression of "the little boy racer in his little civic type R".

Sorry to ramble on 689R, but I felt it needed to be said. You seem like an intelligent guy, and a lot of what you say on here I agree with. But comments like "dumb-ass comment" and "get a brain" sort of stamp over your intelligence a little. You and others can agree or disagree. At the end of the day what does it matter??

Tbh I'd still own an ek9 lol prob by a house here and a house in a few countries and then have a few mental cars and I'd be happy, one thing I would love is to build my own race track lol

So back to the original question: what would you own if you were mega-rich?

Supercars/GTs - LFA, Aventador, Testarossa, F12, DB9, LaFerrari
Dailys/Execs - E39 M5, IS-F, G63 AMG, RS2 Avant, E38 7 Series, W124 500E
Jap Cars - Evo VI TME, R35 GT-R, R32 Skyline GT-R, Mine's R34 Skyline GT-R
Muscle - Challenger, '68 Charger, Corvette Z06

And just about every decent Honda ever made in many forms.

I'd probably buy a porsche gt3 or something and further modify it.
Run in btcc if I could.(not with the porsche obviously)
I'd defo have an r34 and daily it lol

If money really was no object, I'd daily everything, such as LaFerrari.

Should've included the 911 GT3 RS as an awesome track car.
