i just took out a b18 off my friends car but is auto and i will be droping an engine Thursday IMO he should convert it to stick but he wants the best bang with the buck.. is it worth it dropping a b20 or should he just get another b18?

imo the b20 is worth it, thats what i wanted to swap out with but the only prob is, is that its totally illegal, which i find to be bs. so just dont make it loud so u get pulled over cuz ull get the ref ticket. i got 1 for my exhaust and couldnt pass smog and the price to pay was 6 large

i dont worry about the engine being an illegal swapp im a s13 240sx with sr20det owner :D and i used to DD with 320WHP but gas started killing me lol

Yes...don't worry...untill you cras and you get to hear you were uninsured because of your illegal swap. Very handy.

Just because there may be a not so legal engine under the hood does not mean the car and driver are not insured. It only means it will not pass smog/emissions.

Depends on the country. Insurers will do everything to not have to pay and I tihkn it depends upon the country wether you will be uninsured.

Edit: just realised this is a bit offtopic...if anyone feels the need to discuss this further, please open a topic in general. Apologies for my offtopic talk!

regardless the country all insurance companies confirm the engine size of the car when insuring. Dont inform the insurance company of the engine change at your own risk.

depends what b18 ? depends what b20 very vague. and if you was to crash with a b18 unregistered it is the same as being uninsured

well my 240 has an illegal swap and im inssured :D i could also put inssurance in all my parts so if it get stolen or its crash they will pay for every single thing so that dont matter

Hope you bump it then we will see whos insured, no wonder insurance is through the roof

isnt insurance in usa completly different to the uk ? dont you insure yourself not the car or is that an urban legend ?

some insurance will cover if you are driving someone else car. but some wont depends on how much u pay a month pretty much
