BTW, many couriers have drop off points these days, I have numerous around me and I've used them without any issues. Almost like going to the post office, you just print the label, stick it on and drop it off, they give you a receipt - done. May not work if you live in the country tho. Another option when it comes to stuff you don't want to post is ask the buyer to arrange their own courier - that way the risk lies with them, even then I'd only accept paypal as a gift so that I know I'm getting my money. If someone doesn't like it fair enough, I'll find a different buyer. You'll also find that loads of people want stuff posted to them but can't be bothered arranging the courier themselves - I had that recently with my gearbox, a chap asked if I post to Italy, I said I can put it on a pallet and he can arrange a courier - never heard from him again, guess he didn't want it that badly...
