Whats your oil consumption like

Fully synthetic Silkoline 5W 40. I have used it for 1000miles and its used approx 500ml of oil. I do use VTEC quite frequently and have herd these engines and this oil does burn a lil.

Whats yours like? Does this sound about right?

my ek9 normally uses a bit of 5w-40 pro s about 500 ml in 2000 miles but i normally use 10w-40 castrol magntec and it does'nt use a drop from oil change to oil change 3500-4000 miles about 1mm on the dipstick lol
 
my ek9 with 60 thousand miles never used a drop. but my 100 thousand mile vti would go from max to min on the dip stick in a week!
 
I started using Castrol 10w40 instead of Silkolene 5w40, just seems a waste if it's going to burn it so quick. Might aswell burn away £20 of oil, rather than £50.

I'm not using much oil at the mo (have to change gear before 8krpm due to clutch being on its way out).
 
my vti doesnt burn a drop i use 10w40 mangatec and was 7000 miles usin that oil and it didnt burn a drop
 
On the road hardly a drop, at a sessions trackday maybe half a cup, open pit between half & a full cup, also using Silkolene.
 
with slightly leaky turbo oil seals 400ml/1000miles, compressions still practically perfect though.
 
i have no oil consumption but engine only has 1050miles on it ;) when my engine had 40 thousand miles on it it didn't consume oil either, it usually starts over 80 thousand miles in my experience, obviously maintenance and abuse will play a role.
 
Im always 5th gear VTEC-ing ( motorway driving )
Oil burns like a bitch, not a problem, just add more oil lol

mine is pretty much the same with the pro s, i also 5th gear v tec a fair bit.
 
I vtec loads and am now using the silkoline. When i ran both my B16A2's and my 1.5 vei they never touched a drop. Just this one is and it has only 50,000 miles.

In my experience i've found a lot of cold starts DO make an engine use oil more. And unfortunatly i only have 2 miles to work.....

I will moniter it and see how it goes. My Bro is also making a switch to this oil so we will see what his is like.
 
i was using 5w30 before and it was burning quite a bot . ever since i changed to using castrol magnatec 10w40 it never uses a drop between services 2500-3000 miles
 
My 1.4 had done 135,000 miles and uses about 250ml per 1000 miles but it does burn oil think the piston rings are on there way out.

Years of abuse have taken there tole on my poor engine :(
 
Ok for now i'm putting it down to the oil. I also use to use castrol magnatec and it never touched a drop in all my other cars....
 
lubricating properties etc and cold start protection will be better with the 5w 40 than with the 10w40 magnetic,
like said before, if it burns a drop just add more:nice:
