Hi guys,

I have a JDM ITR block with some PCT pistons in them. I have ARP rod bolts on the rods for insurance. Then I have a b16a head which is fully built with 5 angle valve job, port and polish and full ferrea valvetrain. The head is supposed to handle up to 10k RPM without a problem. I am about to get some Skunk2 Pro2 cams and wanted to rev the car to 9500. Can the ITR block handle that RPM safely? What would i have to do to rev there safely?

you got a pretty heavy piston to be spinning all the way up there... but it ought to last.

Just make sure the tune is solid.

oil flow isn't too much of a problem... of course I wouldn't do this for extended periods of time...such as revving to 9,500 on each upshift.

You're taking chances up there no matter what it is built with.

any reason for 9500 rpms? are u under the impression that the higher rpm u go u make more power? that certainly might not be the case with what u got. your car could make peak hp around 8500 for all u know. you wont know where your gonna be at till it runs and your tuning. your setup might rev slow with those heavy ass pct's, heavier type r crank, and your 10k rated stiff valve springs. if u wanted to specifically build some thing for high rpms i would re evaluate your your engine size and components. otherwise u can rev it that high with what u have easy.

My friends teg conversion civic rev's to 9200 on aftermarket ecu no problems with that and seems to pull well all the way to redline no power drop off. Standard 98spec engine with I/H/E

If it has stock cams then it will be peaking well before 9200, though not so noticeable in the lower gears perhaps. Stock ITR's are rev limited to 8400 dont forget, even though the rev counter may say more:nice:

Peak power wont shift very far at all from ~8000 with I/H/E:)

(assuming a stock motor)

Isn't that why they have Redlines since there's no more power in those higher revs. Usually the peak HP is couple 500-1k RPMs below the Redline.

That, and to stop you doing unwanted damage of course :p

Rev up to 9500 if you make power! if now there is not use to rev up that high.
