Hey all, what oil do you guys suggest?

fully synthetic or semi?

also where best place to buy it?

not wanting to spend over £30 on oil to be honest!

Cheers Dan

only cause iv been told I dont really need to spend like £50 just on oil, so was just asking peoples opinions

good oil is one of the most important things, perhaps buying a good quality oil like silkoline or motul in bulk would save you money in the long run.:nice:

be careful with gtx magnatec, its one of them oils that got popular through massive advertising campaign/marketing etc back in the day(which worked)

but isnt very good oil for ek9, breaks down easily and not that good at taking high temps

as for first post, opies oils is best place to buy, you dont have to go for the top of range motul or silkolene although if tracked you should but this motul will be fine for you and near your budget (also 5l so leaves 1l for topup is you burn oil)

Motul 8100 X-clean 5W-40 ACEA C3 Gasoline & Diesel lubricant for Euro IV engines

or if you are gonna go cheap route (not recommended with oil) at least get something like this

Motul 6100 Synergie+ 10W-40 Gasoline and Diesel engine oil Technosynthese

thanks guys I have just sent oilman an email to see what he said, but the 1st one at £35 will prob be wat i go for :)

just got reply, sop goign to go for what he said

"Have a look at the Motul 8100 X-cess 5w-40 and the Fuchs Titan Supersyn 5w-40, good synthetics that are ideal for fast road use, even the odd track day."

agree with what you say about gtx, bad stuff!! had bad experiences with it breaking very quickly and causing damage. would never use it again, its just hyped up rubbish.

also it makes no sense why you want to skimp on oil, if you dont even have your car yet you dont know if its even going to burn any oil...... £40ish quid on oil every 3000 miles aint the end of the earth! get the car put good quality oil in it and see what happens and go from there.

The cheapest option I'll use for my car is the motul semi synthetic oil! :nerv:

well after all your guys advice im not going to be cheap skate lol going for the

Motul 8100 X-cess 5w-40

which is £41 deliverd

i beleive theres offer of free delivery over bank holiday at opies oils

I never mentioned Magnatec.

For Castrol GTX to cause engine damage is laughable, sorry.

have experienced loss and unstableness of oil pressure using castrol gtx in a A series turbo engine and in a GM20 xe engine when driving them hard, fuchs titan xtr is a far better alternitive oil in that price range, oil pressure was greater and more stable using it,

Well mine's a thirsty bitch so I find that £47 for the Silkolene is too much for it to just burn it away. Castrol GTX at £17 is more than adequate.

Maybe there is something wrong with your engine then.
