I was wondering if you guys know what intake setup the spoon ek9 uses. It looks OEM?, where is the cold air feed located???

Thanks very much!!:nice:

Presumably, it uses the Spoon carbon kevlar intake pipe *as pictures*, with the standard EK9 airbox, using a Spoon filter.

Both the intake pipe and the Spoon are available on various online shops! Much better products available for the price though that will do exactly the same job. Some people have different opinions of just how well the Spoon filter works filtration wise.

The cold air feed looks like it is just the oem air feed through the oem air box.

OEM Resonator you mean, if so i thought removing resonator improves response.??

Was it not spoon who originally fitted a DC2 Box to there ek9 to take advantage of the larger filter? I don't see that on this car...

I have seen this setup on a few spoon cars??

Confused man lol

sorry major bump, but it was first topic on google search, anyone else running these? or has changed to a J's racing one instead?

If you've already got a DC2 airbox and spoon filter i wouldn't waste your time changing to the J's unless you want that mad induction noise. I personelly wouldn't run the ek9 airbox with a filter as it just looks smaller and restrictive than the dc2 one.

i run a DC2 airbox with a hamp filter on mine and i wouldn't go back to anything else now :nice:

I heard from someone that visited the Spoon factory they had a MUGEN intake on their Spoon race car!
Dunx

haha i like the mad noise, but would it affect performance much? if i had a cooling bracket for the J's racing ***** with direct airflor from the front vent, aswell? as i know they suffer from heatsoak alot?

they dont really unless its really baking hot and you dont have a cold air feed.

Sorry for bring this topic alive again , but does anyone know about the setup under the airbox? Do they use that rubber piece inside the box? And about the air feed? Where yhey catch the air and with what? Thx in advance.

The air feed from the DC2 box goes or of the bottom of the box and then into the wheel arch if I remember rightly.

I know what you mean , i would like to know the setup too. Prefacelift EKs are tight for space up front to get a good air feed, id like to know what route they took, as id like to copy it as i hate seeing the billion style ducts sticking out from the sides of bumpers.

Been 4 years since I posted this thread and still don't know which exact method Spoon used!
However having learned alot since then, its not hard to figure out they just simply would off used a cold air feed ducting pipe, attached to the bottom of the airbox, going straight behind the arch liner area. Instead of having a silly ducting pipe sticking out the front bumper. An engine can only take in so much amount of air.

Having tried various airboxes myself with bseries and kseries, its quite evident that enclosed air boxes like Mugen or groupe m etc work better for the obvious reason as you all probably know.

Look at the mugen intake, its the same design as the dc2 intake but much bigger in terms of filter and piping.
If your on a budget I would stick to the oem dc2 airbox and intake pipe (ek owners will have add and additional hold for the air temp sensor very easy job and also an airbox bracket) attach a cold air feed ducting pipe directly into the bottom of the airbox going straight behind the arch liner or where the standard resonator sits. Works well on mine.
You can actually use the standard dc2 resonator as a cold air feed ;-) this way you dont need to mess about with the duct pipe. Will post a pic of how I modified the resonator ..
