Hi lads. For a while now i have been in search for a good back to black tire shine. The best i know is the turtle wax but 8/9 euro for a bottle.(far too expensive) The one i use is the lidl tire care. It makes the tire black but does not give a good shine. Does anyone know if there is another sorta oil based product that i could use that would have the same effect as tire shine?

So what i would like to know is what product do you use, what would you recommend? :thanks:

ive always used meguires spray on tyre shine but make sure you clean your wheels after it as they are a magnet for dust.

ditto

Comes out really nice and shiny but if you have white wheels wash the wheel after application!! I made that mistake once on my OE wheels, i got to the meet and my wheels were black!

Auto glym instant tyre dressing

Best stuff imo, ususally i
-wash and dry the wheel and face of tyre
-spray it round the tyre
-leave all the white spray to dry in
-gently wipe with cloth (prevents any excess coating your wheels black)

Jobs a gid een!

I use a Meguires Gel(Not sure of the exact name, brought back from the states anyway) myself,Its a nice finish but doesnt seem to last too long

Hmm a gel you say. Do you have to apply with a brush? I like the sounds of a gel because there is an awful lot of waste with the spray

personally think autoglym tyre dressing is junk, looks fine and is easy to use but after a few days it's gone.

probably going to try Zaino Z-16 Perfect Tire Gloss next.

expect to pay 20 to 30 euro for the right stuff

or you can use johnstones baby oil if you dont want to spend more than 3 euro

Just one quick look at that and the price. Thats really expensive

as im sure you'd do with your car parts mate, buy the right stuff! you get what you pay for. Zaino is highly regarded stuff.

maguires tyre gel best stuff ive used by far, better than any of the spray on tyre shine, lasts ages too :)

SMARTWAX imo is best for the job.
in fact all of my cleaning products are smartwax.

SmartGel™ - Trim, Tire & Hard Plastic Restorer

u can also buy a special sponge-like aplicater which makes the job really easy, gives a great finish, and actually lasts a week of two unlike everything else iv tried. it can also be used of any plastics of rubbers.

and is available in the u.k, jut search for retailers. i reccoment their whole range!!

amour all tyre gel youll get it in motor factors for maybe 12euro with the applicator pad iv the same bottle for well over a year rob and theres a good shine with it

Don't waste your money on all that stuff. Use thinners on a cloth gets rid of all the muck on them.

Wouldnt thinners be a bit harsh for the rubber? Ive used different sorts really, but cant really decide which I like the best. I did use wonderwheels for a while which seemed good. Ive also used a spray from a pound shop which does give quite good results. One thing I have noticed is though is that if your tyres are old, it doesnt work aswell, if youve got fresh rubber then they look and last a lot better.

Hmm when you say thinners what exactly do you mean. Like i wanna know i'm asking for the right stuff! :thanks:

Use Armorall (or what ever you want for the shine) let it dry COMPLETELY! Take a little gasoline (not too much or you will melt the rubber!) and spray it directly on the tires. Your shine WILL NOT WEAR OFF! It will be effectively waterproof! You may have to do this once a year. But that's only if you have curbs and scuff your tires frequently.
