valve guides

Can you remove valve guides youself or do you have to have them pressed out ?

you can remove them yourself with a hammer and drift, easy on a cast iron head but not so easy on aluminium head,the guides wont be re useable.
the guides can smash quite easy,
may be easier to get a engine/ machine shop to do it.
