Va Va Voom....101's new 182 :)

This will be my next car I think due to stupid insurance premiums on Hondas
They really that nice to drive?
What kinda mpg are you getting btw?

im dont have a clue on frence cars like e.g bmw 318 doesnt mean bhp or say mazda 323 ect.

I get what you mean dude, i only knew as have always been a car nerd.. :p
BMW/Mercs are mind fields with specs. for instance the new 1 series...

116d, 118d, 120d, 123d are all 2.0 litres...
125i, 135i are both 3.0 litres ???WTF??? the only one badged correctly is the M coupe 3.0T it is an actual 3 litre turbo lol.

then 5 series = 520i and 528i are both 2.0 litres but the 530i and 535i are both 3.0 litres.... and the bloody 550i is a stupid 4.4 litres...
diesels = 530d - 6cyl 3.0 litre and the 535D is an 8cyl 3.0 litre..
even the 640i is a 3 litre...

LMAO at mercedes...
new E200, E250 are 1.8 litres but the E350 is 3.5 litres
E200 cdi, E220 cdi, E 250 Cdi are all 2.2 litres... and the E350cdi is a 3 litre...

Lol sorry to ramble off topic but thought you;d find it interesting and it just shows that badges sometimes have nothing to do with CC or BHP or anything for that matter. :)

Cars looking good Dan, Ive always liked these. Looks a very tidy example and seems like your looking after it well. :nice:

Alot of people are asking whats the difference between 172 and 182's apart from power. Renault put a 4-2-1 manifold on the 182, twin exit exhaust, slightly different engine map, revised suspension/springs, wider track, thicker rollbar. There are also several a few minor difference between phase 1 & 2's, and also optional cup packs/cup etc. I read that alot of the 172's didn't come with ABS which is why alot of insurance companies can make them higher to insure than the 182's.

thanks for all the kind comments lads :) and nice one topher for clearing up the whole 172-182 stuff lol

It really is a great drivers car, similar to the ek9 its very racey and great acceleration as well.

I am going to the ring next year with a few friends after we graduate so heres hoping it makes it home safe and sound :)

Looking good man! Will have it looking good as new for you.

Its gonna be such a laugh in that car at the ring mate, bet you're wishing the day's away till that trip :nice:

The car should do low 9 mins round the ring with bollocks set to big haha

172 Cup is the model that came without ABS, the reason insurers hammer them more than the other models I think is probably more to do with the dickheads who bought them thinking it was some stripped out rally special and promptly put it rubber side up into the nearest ditch as a result of their ego being greater than their talent.

In truth yes they are lighter and have different suspension set up to the regular 172 but there's nothing in it in a straight line.

I had a 172 then a 182 and tbh I loved the things despite the ill informed french shitbox comments people make. Mine were both bulletproof and a joy to own. I debated long and hard about parting with my 182 for the EK but decided it was time for a change, still miss some of the toys, most of all the xenons. I do agree on the seating position, it's the cars biggest weakness imo.

Looking good Dan! One of the lads from work just bought one in the orange colour that they come in, deffo pulls well!
