hi there,

just want to know the difference of a USDM B16A2 vs JDM B16A2, stock to stock, (including tranny etc).

all i know is that USDM (possibly from a del sol) has 160hp and JDM has 170hp. im sure theres more,kindly educate me.

thanks in advance guys

slightly higher compression pistons and its mapped for the higher octane fuel, thats about it i believe.

USDM = PR3 pistons
JDM = P30 pistons

Most JDM cars came equipped with a factory LSD.

ecu on JDM cars are remapped but also have a 185-190kph speed limiter.

so could it be their higher compression brings about 10hp more? and other than that,basically the same?

thanks

the jdm version is just b16a and yes there is the compression difference 10.4:1 in the jdm p30 piston type vs 10.2:1 in the pr3 rest of the world version. the jdm version has just the compression and a more agressive tune I believe.

but I do believe there are 2versions or more of the jdm b16a engine that is the old one from the 88-91 civic/crx SIR(integra rsi/xsi) which had slightly less agressive cams and a 58mm throttle body and 10.2:1 compression that one was 158hp then there is the engine in the civic sir-II which had 170hp with the 10.4:1 compression.

i think i agree.there is the jdm b16a 1st gen which came out with the crx. roughly 160hp. and jdm b16a 2nd gen for sirII which came in the eg with 170hp.

1st gen is cable transmission and 1nd gen cam with hydro, i think.

question is, can you run a jdm ecu with a usdm engine?

I can´t see why not? just use the best fuel you can get your hands on.

100% there man.

the jdm ecu will look for a knock sensor that the usdm lump wont have fitted which i think is correct
therefore throwing a light

no.

the USDM car does have a knock sensor. It's the crank angle sensor the JDM car does not have.

In this case, it won't matter nor affect its performance.
