Hey :nice:
I just got ma 9 re maped with a uni chip. There where a few problems. The AFR was running too lean making it dangerous conditions 4 the engien. So the tuner corrected this making is safe as a conciquence not gaining much more power. When we run it the first time without the chip it produced 180BHP at the fly wheel. Now it is at 190BHP but can not feel n e dufferance when driving. This is only a 5% gain and the chip is advertised to make 'up to 30%'.

Can n e one help with advice of why the AFR was lean and could help me understand about mapping, what to look out for etc.

N e sugestions will help
thanks
Ashton:nice:

Its lean if the injector multiplier rate is incorrect for xyz rpm. If the chip is a bolt in then your wasting your money. The factory engine is tuned so well stock that you wont get any kind of noticable gains without investing in some parts that have been proven on the dyno.

lol i though that was the trent in ur video.:nice: What u think about them electric chargers. If i got one of them put in would i need the chip to map it properly.

They only wish they can improve 30% on a honda engine.

Those are generic ecus which we were talking about in other threads. If your serious, get a proper custom ECU and tune it.

dont like unichips tehy are a piggyback ecu,,
no need to use something like that when you can get an apexi power fc or aem unit easily

What do these retail at and what gains would u expect. mods so far are:
K an N induction system
5zein 4-2-1 manifold
de-cat
k racing 10mm ingnition leads

you will never get 30% gain on a NA b16b from a remap, they are too good from teh factory, 10bhp is a good gain

Not sure about the AEM but the Power FC can be had from eBay for £440 + shipping, was gonna get myself one this month but having trouble finding a tuner whos willing to set it up for me. Sure the AEM is more expensive though. Check em out here:

NEW APEXi POWER FC + Commander Honda B16B Civic EK9 CTR on eBay, also Chips, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 03-May-08 04:59:33 BST)

From all the research I've been doin the Power FC comes in highly recommended, soon as ive found a tuner & ive got the funds I'll be havin one!!:nice:

man, cheers for that korupt :nice::nice:, you just saved me a sh*t load of ringing around. All the tuners ive spoke to recently say they dont wanna tune power FC & tryna tell me that this is best, that is best. You're only a hour away too!!:D

are you going to be about 'sunny-scunny on monday? could have a proper chat about what available and what you want to acheive

You won't get much increase in peak horsepower with a tune from a custom ECU on a stock B16B. You can expect more gains below peak and below VTEC.

Who have you spoken to mate? Nearly every tuner who does mapping does Power FC's.

Went through the back of a copy of Banzai, was told by 2-3 tuners that they dont deal with the Power FC & by another that he wanted 5 hours on dyno @ £500 to tune it.

Called CPL Racing & they said they dont do Power FC either.

Just heard back from TDi North though & they quoted £411, so will keep looking around. AFR next on the list !!
