Hey Guys,

I'm getting my self an EK for the track and racing at some point and i need a zorst that isn't gona set off all the noise sensors. It has a 5zegin on it atm but that's gona be to loud. I hada look round but couldn't seem to find many answers other than twinloop (which i think is rubish)

Cheers

Why is a twinloop rubbish

Most tracks have noise limts. Brands has 105 db and think donny is really low like 99 db.

I had a twin loop on my dc2, and they weight loads, are restrictive and i think over hyped.

So i didn't know if any of you guys on here did racing/track days and knew of any that showed gains but weren't mega loud.

I agree, IMO twinloop are over rated.

Spec 2 is good for the extra power.

I know what you're saying mate, it's a pain in the arse to find a decent exhaust system which isn't loud
Even the Spoon N1 with bung is bloody loud! It only takes off like 3DB lol

Pity they have sound restrictions..Would love the sound of a n1 on the track.. Also think the twin loop is over rated and would buy a spoon over it..Alot of people saying the are a lot more restricted..Thou they are quiet which be ideal for track..

I run the Fuji Legalis R, not sure on gains Dan but it is TD friendly, lighter & nicer looking than the Mugen, as you know mine ran 168hp at SRR with this and the 5Zigen mani.
Did you buy the car Livvy had up? :)

i track my car with a full spoon exhaust and i love it. sounds awesome. id say go with that. its not to loud. all the tracks ive gone ot have let me on it.

The twinloop muffler is actually a very good design. It allows a straight through muffler that's actually quiet. Regular straight through mufflers are loud, and the normal chambered muffler is more restrictive. The twin loop design is almost the best of both worlds but it's a little more heavy.

And if you find the Mugen is too restrictive due to piping diameter, Hytech makes a 2.5" or beyond.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

Haitch: I might have got that one.....:drive:

Spoon n1 is one of the best flowing systems, i had on my dc2 with a toda mani was 106db staic at 6.5k rpm lol so i think 8k down the strate is gona be loud!!!!

I'm thinking RM01a if i can find a good 2nd hand one. Also quite like the spoon street but they are expencive :(

Will let u know what i go for.

you need to make sure its less than 98 dba for most uk tracks these days

^^^Indeed and there isnt that much choice.

Dan that is a cracking car for the money, see you on the black stuff soon :nice:

I;ve owned both Spoon n1 full header system and the full Mugen SYstem (current) and i can honestly say that the difference is minimal. the weight is definately heavier with the mugen, however, regarding flow etc, the mugen is every bit as good as the spoon. the both have their good and bad parts, Spoon has that lovely 6krpm + buzz, whilst the Mugen has a lovely mellow tone.
The reason i changed was due to the fact that i wanted the car to sound as fast as it goes, and everyday living.;)
My 9 made 171 bhp on the RR hiatch went to, so the mugen cant be that bad ;)

fujitsubo imho offers best range that caters for different requirements

run rm01a myself for several years now, i wouldnt say quiet although 1 of quieter systems out there

meets everything for race system (im unsure of decibal level when there new but prob just under most circuit limits)

mine was 113 db at oulton at static 5000rpm

my sound suppresion material was shot so had backbox repacked but took b pipe of today as gonna also get 2 silencers repacked as still loud

ill then get db reading and report back, also have bung which makes big difference, fine for stock car with couple mods but causes restriction on mine at high rpm's and doubt would be suitable for built race motor but dyno testing could be used to judge that

why not keep the 5igen and get a stainless exhaust customiser to stick a silncer in the b pipe and a bung? or even buy a silenced decat if its decatted already.

i run a fuji powergetter good noise when you give it **** without being loud. i feel good gains from the system yet its no where near as loud as the spoon n1. i drove 500 miles to silverstone at the weekend to watch the f1 and on the mottorway it sounded standard so would easly pass the db test as well as give you performance

I would always think twice about a 'quiet' system that hasnt actually been track tested by a user, because some systems sound quiet but wont pass the static test, then there are some that do pass the static, but then on full chat on the straight they set off the decibel meters (track pending), forcing you to come in and 'fix' it.

for everyday i think the legalis r is great
i have it now but the difference between this and my straight through spec 3 was easily noticable, so was the sound LOL

I have used both Spoon N1 and Fujitsubo Powergetter. Both are good in the track, but i much prefer the powergetter for normal road driving and Spoon n1 on track.
