The timing belt is due on my ek9!:(( I have purchased the belt, tensioners and a bolt that is needed. Anything anyone else recommends I do when its getting changed? my mate who is an ace mechanic is doing it! any tips also?:D

Thanks
Rambo:nice:

Whats this bolt that is needed? Can't the existing one just be used?

Cool thanks blinx! are there any gaskets I need to change, i.e. rocker gasket, etc?
Some bolt the guy at Honda recommended I get when ordering the belt, etc. It was like £3. :)

Hmm..I'll check with them when I'm down there next. Got the part number for the bolt?

BTW, they said a water pump is £102+ VAT!

On OEM Jap Parts, they have one made by GMB? Supposed to be OEM quality and is priced at £34.99.

What do you guys thinks?

Oh and Blinx, when you say idler pulley do you mean the tensioner?? Because Honda did not know what I was talking about.

I pick the belt, tensioners and bolt up tomorrow so I'll give you the part number then, no probs mate!
zubzub on this forum who lives down the road from me bought that water pump from oemjapparts when he bought his belt and tensioners from there too so I'm gona do the same! reckon it will be fine, everything else the guy sells is spot on! :)

Getting ma timing belt done on saturday hopefully, so i'll let you know the outcome.

Fingers crossed

Bottom pulley very very tight. will need a big breaker bar and lock the flywheel. Will need to remove down pipe and cover. Air gun no good......

Idler pulley is for the A/C, i actually had one that broke off on an eg!! It was a very old car though with about 150k miles :)

Oh LOL

No wonder he did not know what I was talking about when I said I was changing the cambelt and was advised to change the idler pulley at same time.

Any news on the part number for that bolt?

cheers Blinx! :) I spoke to my mate who is changing my belt, etc and he said the idler pulley is included in the tensioner kit you will recieve so that is all good! My A/C is removed now so hope there wont be any problems?!

Hi sorry Gee, meant to tell you earlier. My bad! The part number for the bolt is 90026PR3003. hope that helps! cheers

Guy did my belt and that yesterday and says the water pump is pretty much identical as the Honda one, so no probs ther. He did say the bolt that goes into the crank or summit (dont have a clue what he was talking about) was a bugger to get off, and he says it turns anti-clockwise unlike most clockwise ones he said. I Dont know what he was gibbering about lol. Overall he says it was a piece off cake to change and easy to work on :nice:

the fact the engine turns backwards compared to most engines means he cant jam the breaker bar in the engine bay and flik the key.ie open crank bolt using the torque of starter motor.asthey are a nightmare to open in a lot of cases.mate was doin his ef sir and had a breaker bar, scaffolding pipe over that and 3 people hanging out it and it still wouldnt open!the special tool from hond isa godsend

Think he said he tried usin his air gun but that failed so the impact gun came out LOL

Cool cheers zubzub I will keep that in mind when my mate is doin mine! glad everything went ok! :)
