this dc 4-2-1 header any good? will it crack etc?

im unsure if ceramic manifolds will last as long as a stainless one but dc sports are usualy fairly good. The replica v2 looks okay.. hard to really give an opinion as ive never used it, but.. i have used 2 proper v2 intakes on both my civics and they really do give good gains. The only diff i can see between that intake and the real thing is the point at where the two diameter pipes overlap, wether that will effect performance is questionable i'd say mate

I don't like the dc header, IMO the primary tubes are too small.

thanks for your replys and input guys:thanks:

so the dc header should be fairly reliable and have better flow than stock ek9 header?

and the v2 replia looks okay! im just frightened lookin at where the filter position is:nerv: theres alot of rain in ireland and im scrared:nono:

Get a oem manifold off a 98spec JDM ITR, there a 4-1 design manifold and have been proven to be as good as some aftermarket headers out there.

ebay have some i think, try registering on an integra forum such as itr-dc2.com

okay guys might go have a look on integara forums in no great rush yet but would rather buy a new header to be honest

DC ceramic headers are garbage....well let me elaborate why...

The only place in the world they would survive would be in Southern California, Australia, Dubai and other regions where rain and humidity are next to nil.

DC Stainless headers are almost just as useless in the sense that their flanges are made out of mild steel. So you have all these pretty tubes and suddenly a brown rusted flange. LAME.

I've never been to Ireland, but I imagine it's nowhere near as arid as it's needed to have any DC header mild or stainless stay pretty/intact.

If you must get a header, I suggest getting a Vibrant J-spec 4-2-1. The OEM 4-1 is good, but ground clearance is poor. The header is also very heavy...but with the weight, you also get durability.

Regarding the intake - the V2 is good for performance but at the cost of engine longevity. The filter is exposed to the elements despite what is advertised and suggested. I've seen plenty of good motors go bad as a result.

I believe this to be the best alternative and option for anybody looking for a good filtering intake on a budget with a keen interest on boosting performance as well.

If you can afford $1,200.00 +, but you want the best go with a Hytech header. The Bisi header is very good as well and should only run about $800.00.

The best is questionable when we're dealing with the B16B.

In that aspect, I'd go with the Toda as being best for a 1.6L. If you went and done the 1.8L conversion, then the Hytech just might be the hot ticket.

Be ready to wait 4-6 months if not longer for it though. I'd sooner go SMSP, DTR if I was looking for a custom header.

There's one I forgot add! TODA's been around for quite a while and I agree, they make a very good product.

I heard both good and bad about SMSP, (I guess we've all heard good and bad about most companies at some time.) Most people I have spoken with do claim good top end numbers, but especially for the B16, unless all you do is drag race, mid range is what is needed mostly. That is where numbers for the Hytech truly start to shine.
As far as DTR goes, without any hands on experience I can't say either way.

i have a dc 4-2-1 and i cant falt it at all. noticed good gains much lighter and fits perfect. also mine dont have mild steel flanges its all stainless so dont know if iv maybe got the new model. and yes much better than the oem header

As RA says, they are junk, and even in souther california they still manage to rust and crack...

I have a ceramic DC 4-1 for more than 2 years and until now there are no crack or rust. I live in Rio, that´s hot and humid, and some times take my car to the track. So far so good.

So what brand are you using?

as RA pointed out i do run a turbo these days but when i was NA i ran the Edelbrock SS polished header, very beautiful:

Excuse the size, pics taken by a cellphone about 4 years ago!

I ran a ceramic DC last year until it snapped at the 2 - 1 section due to the rust. If you must go for DC, get the stainless.

Its a no go for EK9s though. IIRC they only do a 2.25" collector.
