The BME #618 LHD CTR Build

Messed around with one of the strut openings tonight, but I think I'm gonna need to use some sort of adhesive to secure the rubber matting. Looks perfect though.

Pulled the seats to vacuum everything out. The carpet is in really nice shape, but the seats are going to need to come out again for a good cleaning. They're filthy...

I also picked up some interior clips for the headliner and whatnot. These were just a tad bit small to fit secure in the roof, so I wrapped the plug with electrical tape and voila!

nice replica! pretty impressive.

Thanks, buddy!

If anyone remembers me saying that the ignition switch broke on the car as I was trying to leave the shop from the tune... I ordered up a new switch and locks, and the place sent me a "modified automatic switch", NOT what was pictured in the ad. So I had to send that back, so they could send me the right parts...

On an non-car-related note, I am typically a big advocate of "everything is better with bacon". On Wednesday, I was at the liquor store and saw a new beer by Rogue called Voodoo... A Bacon Maple Ale... Sounds interesting enough, so I grabbed abomber of it, along with a six pack of Grand Teton's Sweetgrass APA.
photo_zps34ee8fd8.jpg

I wasn't too thrilled with the Bacon Beer, it was too sweet with the maple... Maybe it would be better with some waffles or pancakes, but not with the thai that I had. I knew that it was going to be a long shot, but I was really hoping it would be one of those epic new things...

As for the Sweetgrass APA, I was impressed. Mildly hopped with a citrus aroma, and a sweet aftertaste. Overall, this is one of the more drinkable beers I've had in a while.

nice hatch mate :nice:

Loving the Bacon beer! Only in the US lol....

What kind of numbers you make?

The car made ~156whp on 93 octane with a bad intake leak. We fabbed up a tube on the TB and picked up 8whp with zero additional tuning. So that's on my list to get fixed. I'm not so worried about the numbers that the car actually makes v how the car feels on the track. This was more or less what I expected, so I'm happy!

Haha, yea absolutely. Leave it to us fat Americans to come up with something like this!

Well I just got back from my 2-week honeymoon in Hawaii (Maui and O'ahu). It is rough getting used to life back in the continental US...

Here are a few pictures from the trip

Well I finally had some free time to install my front camber kit and Stoptech pads. I also bled the brakes with Amsoil Series 600 fluid.

I also shimmed the rear arms with 2 washers under each bolt to help correct the rear camber a little. I'm hoping to get between -3 and -3.5 in front, and -1 to -1.5 rear/

Well, I decided to start maintaining my personal racing/modding blog again! But new and improved with 100% more CTR goodness.

Battle Monkey was the club name that I used to drive under and promote my car with. Everything was always well received with the venture, so I figured that I would begin to run the CTR under this name.

Feel free to flip through some of the older posts to see some of the other stuff I had been up to.

Nice car dude! i see you have type-r door panels, did you paint your dashboard as well? or is it still gray?

It's a Dark Grey Si dash. The plan is to eventually get a black EDM one with the vent, but they're stupid expensive... So idk, that's low on my priority list for now. However, I will be doing a lot of electrical work over the winter, so I might spray the dash black to match.

We shall see.

Good Meet and Good Meat

You've already seen the pictures from the car show, but here are some pictures of food!

[...]

And now for the Meat... I was trying to impress some guests who were coming over for a BBQ a few weeks back, so I took some special actions during the prep process of the pork spare ribs.

- I punctured the meat with a fork in several areas, and poured Left Hand Brewing's Black Jack Porter into the tray.
photo_zps79004a39.jpg

photo_zpse878bcfa.jpg

- I let the ribs sit in the beer-inade overnight, to soak it up nice. Then applied a liberal amount of my homemade Kansas-Style dry rub to them. I let that sit overnight.

- The next day I set the oven to 250* F and let the meat cook nice and slow for about 4 hours. Here they are after removing them.
DSC_0073_zps155c49ac.jpg

- I also prepared some chicken breasts with the dry rub and cooked them in a similar fashion!
DSC_0074_zps7623bd16.jpg

- And I made some Baked Mac n Cheese... $10 worth of cheese in this bad boy! (Sharp Cheddar and Gruyere)
DSC_0075_zpsd81bc7fc.jpg

- I then threw the ribs onto the grill to give them a nice bark. I'll admit, I did leave them on slightly too long since I was trying to time the mac n cheese to be ready at the same time. They still turned out fantastic, though!

Always Mocking Me... Part 1

With my new intake scheduled to be delivered this Friday, I got started on the custom BME intake heat shield and box. I want to make sure to give the intake the best chance at performance. Today after work, I created a template out of cardboard, and mocked it up completely in the bay. Obviously the heat shield design will need to be tweaked once the intake arrives and I see the fitment. But I am confident that this should be a great start!

DSC_0110_zpsdb5b6c60.jpg

DSC_0114_zpscbff761a.jpg

- Once this piece is cut out of the sheet metal, the fender-side will be sprayed down with high temp black paint and the engine side will be covered in heat reflective gold tape. The edges will be finished with rubber piping. The top will be sealed off with plexiglass; this will allow me to visually inspect the full setup, and make for simple maintenance.

DSC_0117_zps4be39539.jpg

So now that the template is complete, I have to start planning for how the ducting will work on the cold air feed. Since the non-B16 civics don't seem to come with the hole into the fender-well, I need to use a hole saw to cut a 2-3/8" hole into the frame where circled below.

6ffef5d9-68be-43be-9bbb-e04f635a83cc_zps388887e9.jpg

The cold air feed will route to the bumper and draw air as shown below.

Stay tuned for the next steps!

the D16Y7 and D14 Models dont have the hole. The D15 Economy Vtec have the hole too.

Ah gotcha. Yea I just know that I have two hatches, neither of which have that hole...

So drill I must...
