Tegiwa race shifter, keep punching my dash lol

So bought my 9. Has a tegiwa race shifter fitted but on first gear I keep punching the dashboard lol
Is this a design fault or do you think it was fitted wrongly?
 
How have you got it fitted? If its forward facing then yes it can hit, you will need to spin it round, or have it off to the side

It's fully backwards ATM I think. Haven't looked properly yet but I'm sure the curve bends backwards.
 
Just. Checked it an its defo curving backwards, have a picture of the dash clearance it's about an inch

One of our friends had one fitted in his EK and I guess lot more people have as we have sold 100's now. We will make the bend more pronounced in the next batch to overcome this problem. I know our friend had a Spoon gear knob which is fairly small in diameter, but maybe it was just enough of a difference

Yeah mines got a skunk2 knob onit. A bigger bend it probably best. Only needs about a half inch more and it will clear

What you doing putting it in first for? Should only be sat in first on the start line no?
 
Nothing mentioned about 3rd and 5th, so I'm guessing he's heel and toe-ing so doesn't need to be banging it into gear :D

Only called it a race shifter because this what tegiwa call it.
Also not like I went out and bought one, it came on the car already.

But to answer your question no it's all fine in 3rd an 5th, only first you end up pushing buttons.
