would a 200bhp ek9 feel as quick as a td04 ep82 running 1.1 bar? ive never driven a ek9 before so dont know neither has my bf, also what are the cheapest and most effective modifications to get 200bhp? i want a ek9 for reliablity and comfort and looks, but would like a similar performance to my starlet, thnx :D

starlet will feel a lot faster

cheap performance is about all starlets have going for them

a td04 at 1.1 bar would be around 230bhp would it not?

Tbh the EK9 would need about 250Hp to be as fast as a TD04 starlet.

Just sold my EP91 glanza, It only had 185 Hp and was Faster than the EK9 i owned.

ALso the EK9 is a lot more expensive to get to 200Hp than the starlet is..

Anything with a turbo will feel faster and be easier/cheaper to make faster, but throw them down a b road i know which id have

faster on what?? theres a lot to discuss you cant just say is faster 200 hp engine or wheel?? starlet 1.1 bar on stock turbo with no mods?? etc etc

Thing about Starlets, the torque/power delivery make them feel very powerful. Honda's haven't much torque and don't feel particularly powerful but you still watch that speedo climb! TD04 Starlet will be definitely faster in a straight line, but that's where the advantages end IMO.

Starlet us currently being built by my bf and will be 1.1 bar but had one before, no matter what I'm going to get a ek9 lol what mods are needed to get 200bhp from a b16b? Thanks

you can say its faster if you have owned one with less power that was faster than the EK9..

So when people mention a starlet with a TD04 and running north of 200Hp you can Definitely say it is way faster than an EK9..

200hp at the wheels or the fly and it will be faster than an EK9.. 10 times out of 10..

I've owned both ;) so can talk from experience.

and you right to question 1.1bar on stock CT9 turbo as that is mad and way out of the efficiency range of that turbo. but as said above it is a TD04 in question, taken from the subaru impreza. so 200 Hp actually seems low for 1.1 bar boost on a Td04

I think i'd still take an Ek9 with a B18C over a 230 Hp starlet although it is definitely something you have to experience it is MAD fun :D

200hp from a b16b will take a good few grand.
As said, drop a b18c in with some aggressive cams, decent intake, header and exhaust. And you'll be getting close

lets just all shtap talking about **** toyotas

this is a honda site

a starlets is just a jumped up micra with a bonnet scoop

in fact the micra would handle better and has a nicer interior

Starlet is a good fun cheap little car, I'd say anything CT9 @ 1bar is going to be faster than a 9 in a straight line, depends what you want from a car ? Ek9 is a cracking B road car.

Starlet doesn't handle TOO BAD with coilovers, bushes, F+R ARB etc, but will never be on a par with a 9.

Also depends on the starlet setup and who the tuner is, had a couple of friends who owned starlets and yes are quick little cars
IMHO td04's on a 1.3 engine are overated using the 1.5 bottom end maybe a tad better but still a big turbo for such a small engine.

I rememer going to a track day and there were alot of starlets running td04's and one running a stock ct9 at about 200hp and the 230-250hp td04's couldnt keep up with him, biggers not always better

Its not all about what hp the car makes its about how its drives and how the power is delivered

On a windey road/track honda would be faster as its got lower down acceleration and would be gone before the starlets full boost comes in at about 4k

But hey who cares who has the faster car
If you like ek9's buy one, if you like starlets buy one!

Amen..

Mine only had 185 Hp on the CT9 but pulled really hard from 2500rpm and was at full boost by 3000rpm. I've heard some guys talk about the TD04 coming on full boost at 5500rpm for me that defeats the object of having a turbo..... my glanza V felt rapid but corners that i could take at 55 - 60 MPh in the EK9 i wouldn't have even dared to try them at 45 Mph in the glanza.. its serisouly that much of a difference in the chassis department

An EK9 with a B18C is my choice 9 times out of 10 but there is something wicked about being in a tiny little car that flys past much more powerful cars and is only a little 1.3 .. Its just Fun and thats the reason we drive car's right cause they are Fun.. :D

wel personally i've seen a few and raced a few glanzas on standard turbo at 1 bar boost and they sit alongside most b16a/b16b until 100 mph then the vtec roars past

talking from experience here

id rather walk than drive a toyota turdlet

Honda blinkers. Gotta love em.
Starlets have there place and would be much faster than a 9 in a drag, pound for pound.
Most people would call our old rusty civics raspy gutless tin cans, it's each to there own :)
