Hi im new here, on the verge of buying an EK9

I still own a crashed DC2 ITR which has the following donor engine spec:

TODA Racing Spec B Billet Cams
TODA Racing Dual Valve Springs
TODA Racing Strengthened Sports Clutch Kit Inc. 4.1Kg Flywheel
TODA Racing Competition 4-2-1 Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifold
TODA Racing Aluminium Cam Pulley's
TODA Racing High Power Cam Belt
Spoon Sports 70mm Bored Out Throttle Body
Skunk2 Racing Titanium Retainers
B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator
EK9 Civic Type-R Pistons

Is it possible to just swap the cylinder head/intake/exhaust manifold and obviously have a remap (S300 ECU)

or do the full engine?

Plus would the standard B16 Clutch take 200+ bhp with the head-swap?

Thanks, Sean.

Dam it!

Thought this engine was up for sale or swap! Haha.

Thats why its not in the For Sale section Lol.

How much do you reckon my engine is worth minus the gearbox (Toda Clutch & Flywheel still attached), its done 88k miles but all the internals were brand-new and have only done about 30k miles?

Trouble is i havent the facilities, tools or time to take the engine out myself!

Ive had a decent offer off a certain salvage company, and i reckon what theyve offered is similair to what i would get if sold the basic stuff i'd strip from it, i.e. recaro's, engine and wheels!

Shame for such a good engine to not be used in my EK9, i can afford to transplant/Remap it, and ive had a decent offer on buying an DC2, but...

Ive learnt my lesson and i reckon ive spent spent £12,000 on each of my last 2 cars, so a standard EK9 is a good compromise.

If the EK9 is as fun to drive as my Teg was and its only a 1.6, and it seems to look better somehow then maybe thats what i should go for.

Sorry for the rant fella's :)

If i did transplant my 98 DC2 ITR Engine into a 98 EK9, aside from swaping mounts and ECU's etc. have you guys had to do any other upgrades to cope with that much power (apart from the brakes) ie Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts...?

Thanks.

ek9 is pretty much a dc2 with a hatchback body, so just swap out all your mods from your dc2 and you will have teh same car but a hatchback,

drivetrain on the EK9 will handle the power fine! I've been pumping well over double the HP of the stock EK9 into my drivetrain daily now, I have upgraded clutch, stock box, stock shafts and stock suspension. Ive cover 21,000+ miles now no problems. at 17,000 it had its MOT and all the suspension bushings were still in mint condition, none have split/failed.! This was checked when the sliding plates the wheels are on were ragged out and in etc by the hydraulic machine to look for faults! I dont even use traction bars and yet I dont get wheel hop because the bottom arms and bushings in the stock EK9 is SOO GOOD! :nice:

Definate swap over the engine/gearbox, sell the rest in parts. Most uprate the engine mounts & brakes anyway. What is your location, maybe somebody can recomend?

i have a b18c in my 9 and it handles the power just fine:)
if anything it still craves more and would easily cope with a bit extra

DC2 is also a hatchback in a coupe shell. Did you notice the way the boot opens? Its just that the EK9 has the better chassis.

You really need a 1.8 in the EK9 mate. K-series even better suited to the chassis.
