If I put a straight through on a 1.4 will it make it worst on petrol ?

As far as i'm aware, i got told that it should improve petrol by a tiny bit as the gases flow better. But then it depends how you drive, wont be much help when you drive fast lol. Not sure if its true or not though!

Depends on many things, but genrally speaking, it can increase fuel economy slightly. Getting rid of your cat is the first stage, but a free flowing exhaust creates less restriction. Just dont go huge on a 1.4, im guessing 2" system will be plenty big enough 2.25" at a push.

Maintaining your engine, keeping it serviced will also sometimes increase mpg on a old engine.

Dont expect miricles though, if you want to save fuel, just drive a bit lighter. A 1.4 should already have good mpg.

The difference won't be worth worrying about. Although a louder exhaust will make you drive more "enthusiastically" therefore use more petrol

It will drink slightly more but not too much;) It should spit flames though thats for sure!:)

Would this run under the petrol tank? Could be a little risky? The RS*R GT2 takes this route but then the piping is ceramic coating to retain heat.
