Spoon Throttle Body

Will the spoon throttle body or any bigger throttle body make a difference to fuel consumption (if you aint got your foot down)

hi, i believe the b16a & b16b hve the same diameter [60mm]; i had the spoon 70mm t/b and replaced it for the itr [62mm]...

this mod is especially required when you hve internal mods. tho stock you will notice little diff in power gains

however note i hve an ek4 not a '9'

You can eve loose power if you're stock :nono:

Isnt the EK9 SPOON TB 70mm before the butterfly and 60mm after the butterfly? 62mm is for ITR?

If this is the case then just a simple and cheap bore to your stock TB is all you need rather than spending $600+. I remember RVM bored his TB.

Ok anyone got the right spec for this spoon venturi throttle body? I know its the same for EG6/Ek4/9 & DC2. I presume its an ITR TB bored out to 70MM before the butterfly and just the stock size after it?

Yep, I bored it to 66mm :drive:

Ok I've just uploaded a .PDF file with info on the spoon intake system. Can anyone translate it? Britishracer? Thanks Guys:)

Right Click, save target as....

spoon intake.pdf

It doesn't really say anything specific on the leaflet. It just states that it uses a venturi effect and there's a 0.3mm difference in diameter with the intake manifold. They recommend port matching.

Ok thanks, So I should just get an ITR throttle body and bore the front of it out to 70mm and leave the back of it standard right? Are 96 & 98 spec itr throttle bodies the same?

your wasting your time with a 70mm tb anto,a stock itr one will be a good upgrade for b16b

anything over that is pointless unless you have more aggressive cams:nice:

70mm is at the the front of the butterfly. You evidently didn't read the thread in its entirety.

They are the same size. You can reproduce the venturi/spoon effect by doing exactly what they do.

It's a modification small shops have virtually perfected long ago from where I'm from and if I recall, charged $75.00cad back as early as 1998.

Ok thanks and this is exactly whay spoon do right?

correct.

That is all they do. They did it this way to abide by the rules of N1/Super Taikyu back in the day, if memory serves correct - where the throttle body butterfly must remain stock sized. It is essentially exploiting a loophole in the wording of the regulations.

Thanks again, can I use my ek9 map sensor on the itr one?

x2!

this is wot i opted for, as the 70mm t/b is best for internal mods :secret:
