Does anyone know if there is a advantage in using a spoon or Mugen head gasket and if so what are the advantages. In other words : What does it do?

Stock works fine, no benefit of those two. Spoon and mugen licence their name to be used on aftermarket gasket manufacturers or oter products, ten those products sell more and the company spoon or mugen etc make some profit from the indirect sales and profit from sellign these parts directly. fact is, Factory HG works.

I don't know about Spoon, but Mugen HD are thinner than stock and they raises the CR by 0.4

mugen headgasket is twin metal 0.47mm
spoon sports are twin metal 0.45mm

hope this helps you decide:nice:

I just run a stock gasket with the top layer removed and coat it with a bit of copper spray.

Economical and works.

so really one can say it does nothing. I dont need to change the gasket but I have just been wondering what the Mugen & Spoon gasket does. And by the looks of it they just cost twice as much and do sod all.

If it gave the car more torque then that would be great, but by the looks of things it does not.

it raises the compression which gives the motor the potential to have better response and power based on the rest of your supporting modifications.

it does do something.
