Sky Insurance: Proof of security

Hi guys,

I have bought insurance with Sky insurance and on the whole I am happy with the quote.

I have been asked to provide proof of security so they can cover me for theft but the car did not come with any security documentation. The car comes with an immobiliser fitted. I was wondering if EK9's come with immobilisers as standard the way UKDM EK's come.

Has anyone else been asked to provide proof of security with Sky. I have been asked to provide or they will cancel my insurance. Any ideas on where to get proof?

no the ek9 did not im afraid
what u need to do is go get an enginers report state tat u have an alarm fitted and tat it is in perfect working order ....
this should cover u with them if not go get a new alarm fitted

EK9's do not come with Alarms or Immobilisers.
If you have said your car has an alarm or immobiliser fitted then you may have to provide proof. This is normally a certificate provided by the company/garage who fitted the alarm or immobiliser.

Therefore you need to send away the certificate...If you don't have one then you will need to go to a garage who can check over your immobiliser and give you a new certificate

Cheers mate but it should all be sorted now. I had an insurance Thatcham approved Alarm Specialist check the car today and it meets the Thatcham Grade II standard. They issued a new security certificate for £25 and I sent it to Sky today.
