Hi all,

Firstly, please forgive any terminology mistakes, Im not big on gearboxes. I have a guy building it for me.

Im fitting 3, 4 and 5 straight cut gears with straight cut 4.923 final drive and KAAZ diff.

Now everything seems mint fitment wise except the secondary shaft... 1st gear collar and needle bearing doesn't fit the Gear-X shaft. Now i realise i have a problem but wondered if anyone has had the same issue? Wrong shaft or do i need new collar or bearing? Or have i been given a shaft for a different box?

Any advice would be great... Time difference means can't speak supplier yet...

Many thanks,

John

Edit: After re reading your question you have been sent the wrong final drive kit.

There are 2 types of S80 box , one 4.4final drive , one 4.785. The difference being the first gear , bearing and spacer/collar.

You obviously have the 4.7 S80 , which you were sent a gear-x 4.9 to fit the 4.4 version.

Ah Ok. Thanks for that. Presume 1st gear is the same between the two its just collar and bearing that's different?

Thanks again. Need a quick/easy/cheap solution. If there is ever such a thing?? Lol

First gear ( on the countershaft ) is different , as there is a larger internal diameter for the collared bearing version.

For a quick solution ( and what I first posted before editing lol ) is to buy the first gear , bearing and spacer from a 4.4 FD s80/s4c box.

Matt o on here might sell them separate from the final drive he has

Do you still have the 4.7 fd? If you do you could sell it and swap the first gear, bearing and spacer with whoever will be buying it for their 4.4 fd box. They will need yours and will not need the first gear they have now. Or, if for whatever reason you no longer have or don't want to sell the 4.7 fd you may want to post on this thread - http://www.ek9.org/forum/sale/55956-ek9-s4c-gearbox-dc2-4-785-final-drive.html - I don't know the seller but he is selling 4.7 fd from a 98 spec dc2 which is next to worthless without the first gear etc so maybe you could offer yours for swap in case someone wants to buy it from him?

Gear-X Don't offer Straight-Cut Close Ratio Gears nor a Straight-Cut 4.923 Final Drive. Where and whom did you purchase these from?

Be careful if not buying directly from them in the USA, as there are a lot of copies floating around in Malaysia/Thailand.

Gear x make a stright cut 4.928
have been selling them from 2008

.GX AC103(S) Integra DC2 ’92-’01 B18C DOHC Straight Cut Ratio: 4.928

4.928, yes, not 4.923 :)

Pedantic, I know, but just trying to prevent confusion as MFactory are the only company that offer a 4.923 which is very much different from the 4.928.
