robthedoc's ek9 turbo, adventures in boost!

Hahaha I wish mate. I know where they are going and I will be fitting them but unfortunately mate it isn't in my car. Nor is it a civic they are going into. My seeker v2 will be on soon tho...

It is a go autoworks one mate. My system uses slip joints and all of them where loosened to get the down pipe in position. Then the guy that's welding it marked it up when he found its natural position.

I'd probably agree Murray but he's the expert so can't really argue with him lol. Also he's doing it for a bottle of red wine and this is a major bonus as I'm skint!

Cant argue with that really! As long as it is quickly back up and running all the better.:nice:
Is the downpipe braced at the back of the sump?

The re fit was much better than after the flexi was welded in so I think I may have f*cked up when re fitting after the flexi was changed. I didn't losen the slip joint at the back box and I think this may have put more strain on the downpipe.

Anyway all sorted now and back to spinning in 5th in the snow.

Also tho the downpipe sits very low at the front so we got a piece of stainless plate and made a wee bash guard...

Just read though all this build thread and this is what i call a never say die spirit! :win::win::win:

Amazing build buddy.....sent u PM regarding some stuff u got for sale :)

Haven't updated the build for a bit as I've mostly just been enjoying the car. Had a few bugs to work out and upgraded a few parts. Here's some pics of whats been happening.

Seats went in

They were originally purchased for an s2000 but the base mounts didn't fit in so the guy bought these...

I know there will be a few disappointed people (myself included) that didn't manage to snap these up, but they've went to a good home and Ross is over the moon with them :))
Hopefully I will get first refusal if he ever decides to sell.

When I was fitting the seats I fitted his spoon roll bars and harness bar...

Back to the 9, my head was always a wee bit noisy so decided to get the new spring style LMA springs and replace the bucket type. Also noticed the rockers were slightly worn so swapped them for the ones out my previous head as they were in much better shape.

Found a small leak while I was in there

Found out what that board thing is actually for...

Couple pics of the old rockers

Cleaned up the rockers that went in as they had been sitting about for a while

The head is quieter but still not as quiet as I'd like. Will re check valve clearance but I'm starting to think the guides might be worn? Car runs fine so I'll se how it goes for the time being.

Then this came

Absolutly love it. Such a better part than the aem for the same money, would recommend it to anyone.

I find the heads on these quite noisey anyway rob so I wouldn't worry too much.
Might not be helped by our oil feeds to turbo. ESP on idle.
You'd recomend the Plx then?
One thing I'm wary of with tuning mine on the road is the unreliable AFRs.
Was going to just tune it rich until I could find a dyno but if these are cheap.

On the subject of plx, what do you guys think of the plx kiwi wifi/bluetooth devices connected to a smartphone/tablet.
