rev guage actin strange after dizzy rebuild

well lads just rebuilt my dizzy the whole lot coil/igniter/arm/cap and new leads
so let it warm up idles fine no bothers took it for a spin and when I was hitting a 3k rpm the rev needle will shoot up and down and die to zero den when I stop and start again the needle will idle fine
took it out again to drop the gf home and it went to a higher rpm engages vtec but needle will drop back to zero at 6k rpm

anybody any idea?????
have i a crossed wire somewhere????

Maybe wrong dizzee internals?? I had the exact same problem when swapping my b16a2 for B18C-R. Used the B16A2 dizzy on the B18C-R and it went mental, started off with just a spacked up rev needle and then started missing after a few miles before eventually dieing. I worked it out and swapped the B16A2 Dizzy over for the correct B18C-R unit and all was fine. :s. I maybe completley way off in your situation but just thought i would add my 2p .
