Recently brought a item that has arrived in the post that's not in remotely the same condition as It was described. I'm not going to be naming where it was purchased from yet but would like other opinions on what you would do to try and fix the problem.

have tried the obvious option of talking to the seller but is trying to blame damage on posting. The item was wrapped extremely well in bubble wrap and was physically impossible for that to happen.

Any thoughts ?

Ben

How did you pay for the item? What was the postage method?

Thankfully via PayPal as goods, even thou the seller kept requesting bank transfer ( which I'm glad I didn't ) postage method was the sellers arranged courier.

Any pictures of the damage etc?

Would rather not upload pictures just yet as it will be fairly obvious who it's come from as there not for sale very often. Was mainly looking for opinions on how people would deal with it.

Ask them to refund and offer to pay the postage back.

See what they say.

I have asked to be refunded and once refunded they can send there courier to collect but have been accused of wanting to keep the item aswell as being refunded which I have no interest in doing.

If they don't comply or they start to string you along by dragging out the refund process go straight to PayPal, file a dispute and they should be able to sort you out. The longer you leave it the less time you have before its too late and you have lost out.

Sorry but if I was the seller I wouldn't refund before receiving items back either.

Been through the same as you previously.

Take loads of pics, open dispute with paypal.
Most likely have to send items back (recorded/tracked)
When shown as received paypal will refund you

Should get postage back too

Thanks for the input

I have now taken up with PayPal and am going to try pursue through them. The seller has started to discuss returning the item so hopefully all will be rectified.

Thanks again

Just to clarify this issue isn't with me! Have sold a lot of parts to people lately and don't want people thinking it's me being an arse hole. Met ben at the weekend and he's genuine decent lad.
Unfortunately ben you'll have to send the parts back before getting refunded, you have PayPal on your side Aslong as you keep pictures of the product and some sort of receipt showing the courier has picked them up.
This is why you should always pay goods, even if it means extra fee's.

This 100% in no way aimed towards yourself both items purchased of you are exactly as described and you couldn't have been more helpful! I would be more than happy to purchase from you again.

Unfortunately there seems to be the odd forum user that likes to take advantage of there "post count" and "reputation" normally I would be happy to return an item recorded if the other party was compliant but I have the feeling it will magically not turn up. How would I go about claiming back postage costs or is that not possible ?

Thanks and sorry for the confusion Jesse

That's no worries. I wasn't confused just didn't want anyone thinking it was me. If they are considering any of my parts that's all lol
Not sure about the claiming postage back. As a decent seller you should take the postage hit.
I recently sent an ek9 rear bench to an eBay user and it turned up broken, seller calls me and I'm giving full refund and arranging collection for the buyer. This is how it should be done if the seller arrange the original courier.

speak to paypal to try and recover postage costs, if the item is damaged you shouldn't have to pay to receive it or send it back.

make sure you send it tracked and recorded, as soon as it's shown as delivered contact paypal with the link to delivery status and they'll refund immediately.
when I had this issue the seller didn't even get a say in the matter, aypal took the money straight back out.

make sure you mention this in the rep thread !

I think it's about time I defend myself and reputation on this forum.

I have been on this forum for many years and this is the first time I've ever had a problem.

The item was described as 8/10 I asked I preferred collection for two reasons, so you can see the item and also there is no risk of being damaged in the transit.

You've sent me picture that is clearly not the intake I sent with damage.

After raising a dispute in paypal that's fine. But all I've asked for is for you to send the item back (I even attached the return address on the intake) once you send the item back the money will be refunded. Fairly simply. I am not refunding before the item is recieved purely as I feel this was your intention the whole time getting a Mugen intake for free.

I've tried asking on paypal and ice tried asking on here but you seem to ignore my request to send the item back.

Like I said I have been on this forum and sold many many items on here with no problems, but I sell one thing to somebody with less than 50 posts and have problems.

So trying to ruin my reputation on these forums is pathetic.

Your complaing about having to pay delivery which will be covered by PayPal because you have no intention of sending the intake back. So I've lost out on £260 and my intake..

hi mate ive seen the intake in person and to be fair to ben its not a 8-10 ,as he said it dose have the damage as stated above, its a shame really as there a grate intake and would seem urs has had a hard life, if its gone few paypal iam afraid it will always go in the favour of the buyer as I found out my self only last week! bens a honest guy so iam sure you 2 can sort it out!

Simple solution here. Ben send the item back, get a refund as offered.

Simples. I am sure egshane who is a valued member is not out to rob or rip off anyone and has openly offered a refund. If I was in your shoes I would send it back as you are protected by paypal anyway so you have not lost anything.

I've bought from Shane for the first time within the last week, had no problems at all, only thing was the dispatch was a bit slow but he kept me updated at all points. Would happily buy from again.

As said. Send the item back and you'll get your refund from PayPal, even if Shane didn't want to refund you PayPal will just take it anyway Aslong as there's proof it's been sent back
