Hi team,

I need your recommendations.

Put my car on the dyno yesterday but what was obvious was my exhaust was choking the power.

Tuner recommended I get a new exhaust setup.

Current setup consists of basically a Mugen header, decat, and full mugen exhaust into Mugen twinloop.

My EK9 is running B18cr 98 spec.

Looking to upgrade to Hytech or RMF style header but what 2.5" exhaust system to go for? I like my Mugen twinloop because I hate loud droning.

I know quiet and straight through doesn't really go together?

What's your suggestions for a quiet 2.5" system with straight through muffler?

Cheers
Talan

Get a custom exhaust, its what i did, they design it exactly as you want it, in terms of looks and sound, i dont know where your based but i highly reccomend Pro Speed Exhausts Copyright © 2003-2011 they are in south wales and their work is to a very high standard! i got a 9bhp increase this year just from a stainless cat back 2.5" exhaust:clap:

straight through and power dont really go well together. Your setup is fine apart from the back box. Due to its design it restricts power higher up the range as the gases have to flow in a big awkward loop! try a different axle back and see what the difference is?

I recently noticed my mugen goes from 2" after the decat to 2.25", if you want to keep it resonably quiet just change the center section for 2.5" and keep the twinloop.

the restriction is not with the B pipe its the back box. Its a known issue with the twin loop system...

Fujitsubo RMA01a is the highest flowing true 2.5" quiet exhaust I have found.

What you can do is have a custom exhaust made and have as much free flowing mufflers inline as possible. They are available in different lengths. You could eg put a 30" muffler on the straight of the b-pipe and 10" in between the corners. Should get you some reasonable dampening! Jugbugz has done this and has pics of it.

Twin loop will be the pinch in your exhaust, change that and you will gain in higher RPM's.
Not talking about gaining a ton of power tho.

Or maybe even get an OBX twinloop  Those are 2,5" all the way insteads of the 2,25" of the Mugen.

a good custom can be surprisingly quiet as well as free flowing
