Doing a head properly is a skilled thing, it should be done on a flow bench etc. You can easily damage the head/ valve seat etc if you dont know what your doing.

Props to you for wanting to try it yourself, but this really should be left to someone who knows what they are doing. Or at least get a scrap head and practice on that first.

its a pr3 b18c r head and i dont want to remove a ton of material i want to remove just want to remove the carbon and polishing it

b18c heads are meant to flow very well from standard, from what I've read, even a professional job will find it very hard to gain much.

And again from what I have come across, the ports are meant to be rough? or have that grain, but I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in on that.

Stick = tumble = better mix and fills the squish better. ;)

I would advise you to use nothing abrasive / polishing etc, just get some fluid to do it. Defo don't be touching the surface. You not going to better millions of pounds of r and d from the Honda technicians.;). Yes, they are a little compromised to meet worldwide emissions etc, but there's very, very few people in the UK who can improve what Honda did.

you will ruin a type r head if you go porting it and i have seen examples to prove! don't waste your time, or more importantly a good type r head!!!

Just go out & drive it more / spend YO DOLLAR on driver training at your local track.

All well & good having 250bhp, but if you drive like a plumb then you're not really getting the most from it.

IMO of course.

A mirror finish on the exhaust side is ok, but not the inlet.
You could clean up the casting marks no problem, just dont go removing to much material.
Honda did a good job on the heads but remember they are still a mass produced item, so a clean up of the casting marks etc will do it no harm.
